You are a good example of why a lot leave and it has nothing to do with Jehovah and the doctrines Jws believe
Incorrect. It has EVERYTHING to do with the JW doctrines and policies.

I think she means romance novels?
Sylvia
OnTheWayOut summed it up perfectly:
"You are done. Enjoy your life."
I don't think it could be any better expressed.
you do know you people are meant to be the very essance of wickedness don't you? at last thats what they are always saying from the platform! but having read some threads i've found mostly you are only saying what i've heard a ton of jw's saying in private
Welcome to the forum! You'll find a lot of us around here have walked the very same path you are starting down, let me tell you...you're going to love it! There is something wonderful about spiritual freedom. Keep your head up. I'm also on medication for depression. Consider this fact: the reason depression medications make you feel better is that they reset the neurotransmitters in your brain to normal levels. You're now viewing the JW's through the eyes of someone with a "normal" brain versus someone with a chemical imbalance.
What does that say to you about JW's? To me it means that you have to be abnormal to accept their views, and once you restore your brain's chemicals to a balanced state the scales fall off your eyes and you see through the twisted logic of JW's.
Anyway, nice to meet you and welcome to the board! Enjoy yourself and ask as many questions as you can. You'll find a lot of REALLY smart people around here.....many of whom are former sisters.....I know right, what a shock to the JW mindset of holding our female counterparts down, right?
I'd venture to say most jws who commit sins worthy of DFing do not leave or get caught, ever.
They remain zombies in good standing for their entire lives, all while carrying on in adultery, pornography, holiday celebrating, swearing, alcoholism, drug use, short skirt wearing, and even *gasp* windchime owning. These folk just tow the party line when asked, repeating stuff they don't practice or believe in, just to appear righteous and hopefully fool the Almighty. Oftentimes they're too lazy to do the work--researching to find out the truth or the even harder work of making changes in their lives.
It's easier to just belch out the rehearsed untruths. Like reniaa.
Contrary to popular belief, Jehoobie keeps his congregation dirty. He's not tidy at all.

For about 3 years I had a pattern of on-again / off-again anti-depressant use. I didn't like the flat-lining that the one drug gave me.
Eventually a different doctor changed me to a different drug. I was resistent but he really thought it would help me. I also didn't want to be dependent on them for extended periods. His response: Take them for just 6-12 months so I could get to know what 'normal' felt like.
Based on my doctor's comment, my own personal experience with people in 'the world', and my experiences in the org and in leaving the org, I think you are experiencing reality.
There *are* bad people in the world. But I truly believe that there are many more good people than bad. And they are truer friends.
My personal feeling is that you are on the right track. Don't be too naive. Keep your wits about you. Hold on to principles and enjoy the exploration. It's OK to say 'no'. It's OK to get an education and become the best you can be.
Welcome to JWN. I think you will find the support and encouragement you need.
-Aude Sapere (meaning: Dare to Know; Dare to Have Wisdom/Understanding; Dare to Think for Yourself)
Life outside the borg has its ups and downs, but that's normal. There are good and bad people and good people who do bad things and bad people who do good things in the world, and that's normal too. What isn't normal is seeing things in black and white with no shades of gray, as the Watchtower says. Keep your head about you as you educate yourself and explore the world around you. No matter how good you feel, don't stop taking the meds until you check with your doctor. Welcome to JWN and the real world!
HIGHDOSE- You are among friends ! Welcome to the board and I look forward to reading more of your posts ! Congratulations on gradually exiting the witnesses . The advice some gave you to read Steve Hassan's books and Ray Franz's books is good advice. It will help you to understand HOW you got controlled by the witnesses and it will help you see wha to do to move on in life. Keep educating yourself and if you feel like venting or need to reach out here - we will be here to show true human empathy - something a lot of us didn't get in the WT organization. Hang in there, Peace out, Mr. Flipper
Hello HighDose - welcome to the board - here you will find support/friends and debate if you're looking for it.
Life is too short not to live a happy one. If being out of that faith makes you happy and you feel that you have a better quality life then you should persue that - that doesn't mean you are condemed in any way.
Walk your new path, ask questions and make up your mind as you go along.
All the best.
Have you ever considered this: The drug you had been taking was administered in large and regular doses by the WT. What the doctor gave you helps to purge your mind from the grips of that WT drug. That new drug is weening you off the mind altering effects of that toxic stuff you've been taking for years, allowing you to see and think with more clarity.
