thank you for my hug oompa Im just getting to grips with the network here. Sorry I didn't post earlier but a little computer gremlin stole 6 of my alloted 10. when does that stop?

I have been looking at a lot of the topics and I am interested at how all of this started. Is this an 'apostate' site ( didn't they just love their labels) why do some existing jw's come on if thats the case? who are they kidding?

Although I left 10 years ago this all feels so strange. Is not being in the religion the new religion?

It is lovely to finally meet some people who have been through the same kind of stuff xx

Welcome. First things first, even though you have no wish to return, make sure that any fear or doubt that that JWs are not the true religion are done away with - read:

    Crisis of Conscience

    Combatting Cult Mind Control

    Take Back Your Life

And other books about people who have examined their religion and had to come to terms that what it held out to be true and for mankind's betterment, was far from it.

This site was born 9 years ago. It was started by a guy called Simon Green from England, who has since moved to Canada with his family. If you click on his avatar you can read all his old posts and find out his story.

    here's the very first post

It's a discussion forum for anyone, JW, ex-JW, non-JW. A place to discuss anything. Mainly composed of ex-JW's; people who have left, who are in the process of leaving (faders), unbelieving mates, JW defenders (apologists), people who have left similar cults to the JWs - the whole range is here and makes for lively discussions. So, it's not technically an 'apostate' site although die-hard JWs will argue that it is. All apostate means anyway is a person that has left their religion.

Occasionally people come on here to seek attention and stir things up - they are known as trolls, watch out for them. When things get too heated the moderators step in and may decide to lock a threads but most of the time people are quite civil. Still, it's an emotional place.

And I think you make a great point about non religion being the new religion, it seems like that to me, at least in the western world.

It's a great feeling to be free of religion and not feel guilty or empty.

I just wanted to welcome you here.

There are a lot of different kinds of people here. The common thread is experiences with the jws. Some have moved on and some are in the process. A few are still in.

This place has a tremendous amount of good info. You may want to check out subjects that interest you. I hope things start looking up for you.

The big question I need to ask is does anyone else feel like this?
I was alway a bit of a rebel and always fought to bend the rules and fight my corner so why when I am in the big wide world do I feel that I am going to be struck down by lightning?

    Welcome to the board.

That feeling of impending doom and destruction will fade away as you learn more about the WT control tactics and dishonest ways.
