straightshooter - "After all it makes the pioneers and those exerting themselves in the field ministry feel good about themselves at the end of the month."

When I was pioneering I was stressed and depressed because I was busting my ass and struggling to make my 90. ANd then they're like, "So, brother, is there a good reason you didn't make your time? YOu know we have to write a letter to the CO explaining why you didn't make your time." I was thinking, "Yeah, tell him I got SICK of going out by myself." I think I made my 90 hrs once. Maybe twice. Pioneering NEVER made me feel good about myself, except for right after I signed up. And then reality set in.

If they stop turning in time, they will remove the primary criteria for determining who can be recommended for MS / elder.

What, you don't think they actually use the Biblical criteria, do you?

By the way, as of January 2009, you have until the 20th to turn in time, since the report is sent electronically now rather than via regular mail.

Don't they count studies any more? I thought the number of studies per year was as important as hours per year. By the way, just finding out that they don't do study slips any more makes me feel even more out of the JW's. It's like a milestone for me

I felt 'special' when I was a pioneer back in late '60s, but when I had only 2 Bible studies (was suppose to have 7 back then) to report when I went to where the 'need was greater', they held a 'committee meeting' for me, to 'encourage' (?) me. I realized that kind of 'special' (?) wasn't going to work for me.

Yes, turning in your monthly time was always a contemptuous thing with me , I never could find the bible Scripture that said to preach

the good word to all nations and then log your time spent in doing so and give it to the high priest, along with how many books and magazaines you sold.

all still in........start turning in 5 or 10 hour more EACH and EVERY month...in just six months you may be turning in 60 or more hours a month....you will have already received MANY praises!!

and then when it hits like 110 hours a month they will say to you in dub terms "wtf??"......but you will NOT stop........you say you fill every possible moment of your life informal and phone witnessing and oh ya....writing letters to those in retirement villas......keep going til you get to at least 289 hours a month.........and then dont stop......oompa

I don't see the end of turning in one's time--that is your time clock, and turning in your time slip is like punching in and out for work. Of course, the "pay" is not coming either way, so I eventually quit doing any time slips.

Of course, I also quit doing any field circus.

Yeah, White Dove, they still have that slot on the slip, but now it's hard to prove you did because they deleted the need for an audit trail.

As regards time, I suppose one reason I never did secretary for long was because I felt that we should just put down zeros if they didn't turn it in. No announcements necessary, I argued. "WE are trying to help them become more mature aren't we?"
