Questions: Are you still active in a local congregation? What is your status as a JW? If the answer is yes and active, it is just a matter of time before you get a ring from your local body of Elders.

Remember, they cannot get you on hearsay (generally). Two or more witnesses are needed to show at least a pattern.

But, if you get a ring, like myself, don't open the door. It's best just not to go there with them.

Or just go the rout that I myself would go. Tell her yes, you're celebrating. Hiding it only implies that there's something wrong with it when there's not. I may be able to understand if you have family in but if you don't then what are you going to lose?

I left the organization approximately four years ago. My husband and I moved about 15 miles away from our old congregation, which happens to be in another state and no one knows where we moved to. However, my old co-workers do, and could easily pass the information on unknowingly. Also, because my husband and I are well-known in the area, we occasionally run into witnesses from our old circuit in our new area. What a bummer.

Ain't no thang but a chicken wang!!!!

    Dedalus, you're reply is great!

I would change my e-mail address and have caller ID on my phone if you don't already. Your private life is your private business. It is not illegal or immoral (though it is sometimes fattening) to celebrate holidays.

I really appreciate all of your responses! I feel this forum is great because so many people have been adversely affected by this religion, and it helps to come together as a team to help one another out. It is also helpful because it keeps you from making bad mistakes that you would later regret.

    Thanks!

You should have been with me on Tuesday, you might think differently.

Kay, I liked Scully's take on this, but please don't forget the "sod off" part, that's very important.

Just tell your freind to "not to beleive everything they hear" no more no less.
That way you avoid any admission which may be passed on to the elders.

    Hi Kay,

do you have family still "in"? I'm not sure about your personal situation here.

I'm sure your JW friend is concerned for your personal spiritual welfare(translation: your friend doesn't want to be forced by the WTS to shun you).

Hmmm. Not quite sure what that means, but I want to hear all about it this Saturday!
