Take just enough units to be considered a full-time student, in order to a) take advantage of financial aid opportunities, and b) take it easy your first semester/quarter.

    Congratulations Billy the X!

No advice but wishing you well in your studies.

This is great news. You can go to college and become an attorney, then go back to Bethel and save them from law suits. Jehovah be praised!!

Just kidding. Best in your new endeavors. Its never too late.

lepermessiah, I'll check on CLEP and DANTES, depending on the course requirements. Thanks.

Outlaw, My Watchtower edjukayshun would qualify me for advanced placement in Clown College!

zarco, I'll "keep my eye on the prize" and I'll "make sure of the more important things"!

llbh, Graduated in law, eh? Ever consider a career with Watchtower Corp.? Well don't! We're keeping you on our team!

zarco, Since I did take some post-secondary classes years ago, I'll see if the credits still apply. I'll consider CLEP if I think it is a viable option.

Rocky_Girl, I'd considered Accounting. I'm good at math. I'll PM the answer. Don't know if I can trust lurkers...

Satanus, And I could easily live another 40 and still be working. This career should be easier on the body and I don't come from the kind of people that "retire".

daniel_p 1 & 2, PM coming. Don't worry, I've learned good behaviour as a JW... in fact, I'm the modestest person you'll ever meet. And when it comes to humility, I'm #1!!!

loosie, "non-traditional student", eh? Well, I guess it's a kinder, gentler way of saying "old fart student".

Goshawk, "stop and smell the roses", eh? So don't become an "old fart geek".

    Spook, I'll PM you too.

Sad emo, I'll carefully manage my time no matter how many meetings I have to miss!

I'm confident that I'm headed in the right direction for success and fulfillment.

I doubt you will regret your decision. Congratulations. BTW, you just might find you have more company your age than you anticipate. My youngest daughter has a 70 year-old attending her law school.

Awesome! You are totally going to love it! I started back at 41 and now am in grad school. My advice? Follow what you love! You know all those literature, philosophy, ancient history classes that they didn't even want you taking in high school b/c of the "worldly thinking"? LOAD UP!!! Your eyes are already opened thanks to this site and your own research but there's still lots more good stuff out there. Okay, the humanities is my passion, can you tell? But whatever is yours, go for it without worrying (too much, at least for now) about whether it'll "pay" or not.

Oh yeah, and one more bit of advice... regardless of your major or career path, enjoy the GE classes you will have to take, and don't just view them as "check-off-the-box" types of classes. Some of my best memories in school and happiest moments were in classes I'll probably never take again, like Drama, Painting, Creative Writing, etc.

As someone on the precipice of turning 40 my advice is this... Quit calling yourself an old dude!!!!!! You are YOUNG I say!!! Enjoy the experience, and be proud of yourself, you've come a long way baby! (uh ya, that is a cultural reference that some younger folk may not get, but that does NOT mean that either of us are old!)

Hey old man!! As a newly minted 40 year old who is now 2 classes away from a Bachelor's, let me say that getting a college education was/is an important accomplishment. For me at least, all too often I focus on stuff I didn't get to do (sports, prom, holidays, and other things that made me kind of a freak in school). College was on that list and it was one of my biggest regrets. If that's how you feel, you can take 1 of 2 courses of action: 1) continuing regretting it or 2) do something about it.

DO IT! Even if you continue in whatever career you have now, no one can take that accomplishment away from you.

As for suggestions on credits, perhaps mentioning you were a regular reader of Awake! will help.

    Cheers!

Awesome Billy, its never too old to go back to school. There was a woman here in Canada that went back to school

    just before she turned 90.

    Best Wishes!
