rebel8 & daniel-p,
Actually, I already met an "admissions advisor" that was of the "JW salvation salesman" ilk. You know, no matter what problem you wanted solved, the "true" solution involved the same publication... and the deaths of billions of innocent people. Anyway, he had one degree that he wanted me to fit, regardless of what I wanted. When I finally got the info I wanted about the school, he was talking to a dial tone. They just didn't have what I needed. However, if that was what I wanted to pursue, I'm sure he would have been a super helpful guy.
Now I have an appt. with a transfer advisor at the community college. I've PMd you both already on my "secret" career choice.
More news in the next day or two.

Okay, well I was referring to counselors for YOUR college, not sales reps for other colleges. Apologies, rebel8, if you were referring to the latter.

"More news in the next day or two."
Anyway, so here it is a month later. I endured the Botchtower Lessen yesterday about "divine education", and today I made it official. Yep, I'm an old dude / college kid starting in January.
"Divine Education", what a load of crap. Like obedience to Watchtower Corporation ever got me anywhere with anything.

Before you get locked in to a field of study take those tests that tell you what you are talented to do, I forget the name of them, the guidance counselor's office in the college will have them.
Pick a potential field of study based on how much you love it and what the tests show you are talented for. THEN research on HotJobs, Dice, Monster, etc to find a field where there are 10 jobs for every qualified person.
If you acquire a skill like that you will be able to write your own ticket in life.
Also, challenge yourself. Take courses that are over your head and push yourself.
Also, the ability to communicate ideas is VERY important. Take all the writing, drawing, and art courses you can so that you become good at expressing ideas and giving presentations.

B,
My husband went to college for the first time in his 40's. He is graduating this june with a degree in Business. It is something he always wanted to do but then gave up on it when we became witnesses. He went from High School to the Military to the WT org. So when his job said they would pay for most of it (he is now an office manager in a top charter school in Boston)he took the opportunity. He is glad he did and can't wait to finish. Its been hard working full time and attending class but it definately is better then attending the WT meetings going nowhere.
Good luck and congratulations. You are really never to old to learn something new. Wish you the best, Lilly

Good luck to all you other "Back to School" students, too!
