    Great billie,

I just went back to school too at 27 years old since I avoided school like plague before as a witness. I really wish I could have done this right when I got out of high school but no, I had to pioneer and spend time kissing ass for more privileges.

Don't discount online courses through your local community college! I love the self-paced ones because I can shoot them down in 4 weeks and move onto the next!

Seriously your decision, committment and ability to get you family onboard is

Thanks everybody! I'm feeling better about my age experience already.

Although it's something that I've really given a lot of thought, the circumstances have come along very "all of a sudden". Since I'm still "in", I can't go into detail, but as of two weeks ago, I would have said college was completely out of the question for a year or more. Things have changed very dramatically. It's a very good thing that I need to wrap my head around.

Here's to the power of not praying!

And here's to grabbing life and opportunity by the horns!

And here's to being a non-drinker since I need to save my brain and my money!

    old dude!!????

    hah!!

i am 53 years young and in a class
with people who probably have parents
    younger than i am.....

fact: the tech college system i am
enrolled in has 51% of its students
already possessing a 4 yr degree...
    (like me)

there should be a lot of resources
already in place for you as a "non-traditional"
student or whatever the term happens to be
    this season

good for you and best of luck BtEXB!!

Very cool Bro. Glad u are using the old noggin. I went back to school at 42 to get certified in Real Estate and my wife this last year got her AA. People in their 40's often change their career as by, then the children are out of the house and the dog has died. In my many travels in business I've converesed with so many people that changed their life in their 40's.

    Kudo's coming your way

Go for it! I just graduated with my BA last spring (at 55) and I am in my first semester of grad school now. When I began my college career, I was scared that I couldn't keep up with young agile minds accustomed to the routine of tests and assignments. What I found was that they could not keep up with me. Maturity (age) is a plus in college. It means that you have experience to ground what they teach you in class. Also, the adult student knows why he or she is there--desire for an education or self-betterment. Many of the 20 year olds are still trying to figure that out.

I took my first college class at 23, as soon as I left the JWs. Life intervened, but I went back to college in my late 30's - early 40's. Thank God. That period of my life continues to inform my thinking - which never would have happened under any other scenario but school.

I am an autodidact, a dedicated one, and always will be, but formal higher education is always a good idea - it is never too late.

That's awesome! I'm finishing up an MS degree and I'll be 41. It's never too late.

What? Havn't you been listening to the Society's advice not to go to College? You'll get spiritually weak and fall out of the troof....
