    Hi TTE and welcome!

I've been lurking in the shadows of this forum for about 6 months or so. I'll try to be brief here, but I apologize in advance if this is not "brief enough" for you.

Hey, no stress, you've been saving it up for 6 months!

Moses soley spoke for the Israelites, and when Aaron and Miriam questioned that authority Jehovah was upppset, am I wrong for thinking the Governing Body doesnt represent God for me???

No, of course not. The curtain has been torn in two. The is one Mediator between man and God who is on the other side of the curtain and that is Jesus, no one else.

Jehovah has always had a certain group of people whether large or small that were his people, could it be that Jehovah's Witnesses are those chosen people?

Yes, in one sense. But all are invited now Revelation 22:17, see how it says "whoever".

Jehovah's Witnesses follow the 1st century congregations when the apostles were alive, great right?

False. They preach and teach a different gospel as were also appeared then 1 Corinthians 15:2 2 Corinthians 11:4 Galatians 1

What if Armageddon comes, and the Witnesses were right, boy would I be an idiot right??

Yes, but you have seen how wrong they are already, can you really place any substance in what they have to say?

What if Jesus comes and He is God, not "a god"?

As it is, death is the thing to concern ourselves with Hebrews 9:27 and meeting Jesus who is the judge 2 Timothy 4:1 not the WT version of Armageddon.

Add that to the reasons I already mentioned and you see why I kind of want to stay, but here's what's making me wanna get out fast

1914- I've researched this thoroughly pure crap if you ask me

All the false prophecies in the past, 1914, 1925, 1975, etc.

Raymond Franz leaving the Governing Body (but then again see my Satan example for staying)

    607 BCE- FALSE

They say "EXERCISING faith in Christ's ransom" is doing alot for the WTS, that pisses me off, so bad that I get up 4 or 5 times a meeting to get some air, cause I feel like I'm gonna puke

This is the core of the falsehood. Did you ever hear "Jesus is Lord" or just "jehovah"? Romans 10:9 1 Corinthians 12:3

You need to trust you instinct and get out fast. Do not looks back like Lot's wife to see the destruction that the WT love to preach.

"Faith without works is dead like the sea" so step your selling of Watchtowers game up

Conversely, works without faith is dead also.

    James 2:18 (New International Version)

18 But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds."
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

Works cannot save, only faith in Jesus Ephesians 2 and JWs do not have that faith :(

I'll stop there, but as you guys can see, I'm very conflicted here, I've been apart of this cult for 27 years!! It's all I know, from sitting outside of birthday parties as a kid to dont slow dance with that girl at a witness gathering, to you need to reach out as a married man, I'm up to my head in confusion with my feelings, but my thoughts are clear, I want out, I wanna fade out of this destructive cult, but I dont know where to start. I love my wife, I love my parents, but maybe....just maybe....as bad as its going to hurt, I'm going to have to start over in life without them.

You have seen enough. You might displease you parents of your wife and even loose them. However, what is your sanity worth? Or your soul?

    Matthew 16:26 (New International Version)

26 What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

    Isaiah 55:1-6 (New International Version)

    Invitation to the Thirsty
1 "Come, all you who are thirsty,
    come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
    come, buy and eat!
    Come, buy wine and milk
    without money and without cost.

2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.

    3 Give ear and come to me;
hear me, that your soul may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
my faithful love promised to David.

4 See, I have made him a witness to the peoples,
a leader and commander of the peoples.

5 Surely you will summon nations you know not,
and nations that do not know you will hasten to you,
because of the LORD your God,
    the Holy One of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendor."

    6 Seek the LORD while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.

His name is Jesus John 6:35 John 4:14 Revelation 22:17

    All the best,

    Stephen

    Well, hello there, and welcome!

I'm also African-American, Black, Negro, colored, or whatever!

    You said:

I feel you, brother man. I did puke - on many occasions. I had to leave, else I do believe I would have lost my mind.

I advise you to trust your instincts. You KNOW it's false; just do what you have to do!

My 20-year old daughter is still in, so I know how hard it can be.

Anyway, we're here to give you support in your time of need.

PS: You're not in Alabama, are you? Feel free to pm me if you wish.

Welcome to the forum. The books you already read have probably helped you more than we can, but you are still on a fence.

Moses soley spoke for the Israelites, and when Aaron and Miriam questioned that authority Jehovah was upppset, am I wrong for thinking the Governing Body doesnt represent God for me???

Try also reading CAPTIVES OF A CONCEPT. You can google that one and I think you can simply download it from the internet at lulu.com (for a small fee). It will help with whether the Governing Body is God's representative.

Jehovah has always had a certain group of people whether large or small that were his people, could it be that Jehovah's Witnesses are those chosen people??

Jehovah's Witnesses follow the 1st century congregations when the apostles were alive, great right?

If you want to stay on a path of Christianity, then start from scratch. (NOTE- I am not on a path of Christianity anymore, but I understand that many are.) Where does the Bible say that a group of people on earth will continue as the chosen people? How in the world would Jehovah's Witnesses compare to the 1st Century Christians? ( http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/faithful-discreet-slave.php ) The Jesus of the Bible that established Christianity seems to have nothing in common with the JW's that shun anyone who deviates from the rules. The ruling bodies of Christianity after Jesus' death were open about the things they did. Elders have judicial committees in private and the Governing Body doesn't even tell the members that they make decisions on a 2/3rds majority vote instead of unanomously (as they lead the members to believe) like we would think that spirit-guidance would do for them. (Imagine Jehovah only bothering to contact 6 out of 9 men to tell mankind what His will is.)

What if Armageddon comes, and the Witnesses were right, boy would I be an idiot right??

Sure, that sounds good. But does it sound correct? What if God is not that God? What if you need to be a Mormon or a Baptist or a Muslim at the time of judgement? You cannot cover all bases. The safest thing to do is to look at Jesus' teachings and recognize that God isn't going to come in and kill 99.9% of mankind based on whether they try to sell WT magazines. (See http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/last-days.php)

I'm up to my head in confusion with my feelings, but my thoughts are clear, I want out, I wanna fade out of this destructive cult, but I dont know where to start. I love my wife, I love my parents, but maybe....just maybe....as bad as its going to hurt, I'm going to have to start over in life without them.

Don't go leaving your family yet. Start out with a plan and try to fade out. You might be successful in leaving WTS without losing them all. You might not, but you will have given it your best. You can cut back on meetings and not totally share your feelings with loved ones. You could walk away from meetings all at once and see what they do. You can tell loved ones and elders that you are depressed at the meetings. There are options. If it doesn't all work out great, you will know it wasn't a fault on your end.

I highly recommend that anyone who still wants to stay with their spouse seeks marriage counseling if the WTS is between the two of them. Not the elders, but a professional. You may never need to do that. Your spouse might allow your fade without trouble. Or you may need it afterall. A counselor could help her see that you are not unfaithful to HER if you are leaving the meetings to search for the truth outside of them.

There is also the DA option. You might lose family connections or at least strain them. Your parents would probably still contact your wife so you would not be 100% isolated from them. Your wife could be helped to see that she is not "scripturally free" according to WT rules to leave you.

Just don't be rash. Think it through.

Welcome, tryingtoexit! I am glad you have discovered the truth about the WTS/JWs.

Mouthy said: I feel this is a very dangerous cult.Worse than Jonestown,Waco,
because instead of their followers dying in a group, they are dying
one here one there all over the world, from suicide,no blood, etc

Not only are people dying, they aren't living. They're so restricted and isolated. They constantly live in some form of fear. All their spare time is taken up in 'meetings', 'studying', 'preparing talks', and 'in service'. In my family, the longer they are in, the more they don't care about life anymore. My father's latest words to me: "I have no ambition." It breaks my heart to see this. JWs are NOT the happiest people in the world.

I hope you are able to find a solution that works for both you and your family.
