It bears repeating that the research was to show that the First Lady has WHITE (gasp!) ancestors!

Why does it bear repeating...and why is it such a big deal?

It bears repeating because some posters are mixed up about the thrust of the article.

It is not the intent of the article to show that her ancestors were slaves (we all know that).

Its intent is to cast light on her White forebears.

Why is it such a big deal?

Because such knowledge has been tacitly kept under wraps.

Of course, I don't have to tell you any of this; you're a Southerner; you surely know.

Humph! More like the tail end of a jackass and the nerve of a brass-ass monkey!

Tell me Sylvia, have you ever in your life seen a brass-ass monkey?

I'm going to have to read the article. But, do you mean to tell me that men in positions of power had sex with women under their control?!? Say it isn't so!

I don't think it's a big deal...I would've guessed that she had white ancestry without reading that article.

And some closed-minded, backward people are going to see what they want, no matter what truths are divulged.

I would like to see the majority of us get past the race thing though, past, present and future.

That's why I perfer to look at both the President and the First Lady as intelligent, well educated people with dynamic personalities (not to mention attractive) who represent the country pretty well (polices are argued on other threads).

They're Americans...that's good enough for me.

I haven't seen such an animal.

My grandma used to say that to us all the time.

    Enough with your facetiousness!

Most of those men of whom you speak refused to acknowledge openly the offspring that resulted from such a union.

    Agreed, UnderCover.

It just does my heart good to see such things in writing.

I don't know what's going on with my formatting!

You mean that sleazy men in positions of power refused to legitimize their illegtimate children? Say it isn't so!
