Maybe, the apa is onto something. As well, steven isn't a psychiatrist or psychologist.

SAOIRSE- I'm sorry some of your witness family treats you like some of mine treat me - without decency and respect. I've been gossipped about so much in the area I used to live ( about 70 miles away ) - everybody probably knows things about me I've never even heard of ! LOL! Like you say- it's frustrating. Makes you want to pull your hair out. I have an older ex-Gilead sister who trash talks me to anybody willing to listen.

The way I handle it is I just deal with the JW relatives who'll treat me with respect and don't hassle me about my 6 year fade. Those JW's that honor my fade and where I am in life - I will have dealings with, but those that want to criticize me - I just don't bother with them- don't need that negative influence in my life. I consider it THEIR loss , not mine. It's how I deal with it and stay strong.

SATANUS- APA might be onto something . However if you look at the sleeve cover biography in Steve hassan's book " Releasing the Bonds " it states that Steve Hassan is a " licensed Mental Health Counselor , he holds a Master's degree in counseling psychology from Cambridge College . " So yes he DOES have the credentials to understand the psychological impact of cult mind control

He's a COUNCELER, not a psychologist or psychiatrist. If being in a cult was a psychological disorder, then medication would help it.

SATANUS- O.K. You are right , he's just a " counselor " - but he still understands psychology in a helpful and proactive way if he's attained a Masters degree in it. You are right just being or existing in a cult is NOT a psychological disorder - it's what happens to people AFTER BEING INSIDE a cult for some time that can cause psychological disorders. No medicine can fix that , very true, I agree - but only a person willing to be freed from cult mind control and assisted to use their authentic mind again will help them overcome the mental bondage of being controlled by a cult. So I see what you are saying

Thank you Flipper. You seem like a good-hearted person and it's a real shame that the JWs are trash-talking you too. I guess it's inevitable when you leave the borg. We pretty much have little to nothing to do with our JW relatives. Unfortunately, the gossip always seems to get back to us - our families & social circle are just too big I guess. Maybe I should ask my friends not to tell me everything they hear. I'm sure they mean well but I don't need to keep hearing the negative stuff. At this point, it's not like it's a surprise or anything. You're right, it's THEIR loss. Take care..
