Can anybody help with this question re Windows 10 please?

When I am working on my laptop I use a Hauppauge WinTV stick and Windows Media Centre to watch live TV on a spare monitor and there is no bandwidth cost.

I believe Media Centre has been scrapped as part of Windows.

If I upgrade will I lose TV?

    Cheers

Yeah, Media Centre was pretty decent then they pulled the plug. Same with Home Server, Windows Phone, XBox Kinect. It's this "come, buy into something we'll pull the plug on" thinking that made me lose confidence in buying MS products.

We used ChromeCast for TV streaming but I've not tried it from a PC / Media Server setup ... just using tablet or phone to control the stream which comes from NetFlix / YouTube / Shomi etc...

Win.10 does appear to be compatible with Hauppauge v8 when using a mini stick

    Thanks Simon and Fink.

Even if Windows 10 can run a Winstick though what software would I use to watch TV if there is no Media Centre for TV guide and play, pause, record etc?

Ah I see it now. I would have to buy Win TV.

TBH I am really happy with Windows 7 and not sure if I want to upgrade.

Or you could use another Media player such as JRiver, since Win.10 doesn't have Media Center installed

    Here's a link as well....

Thanks for the advice Simon. I know the reputation Apple has for reliability, I'm just hesitant about starting on a whole new learning curve . . .
