No, but I've heard about if from others.
    I invoke the 5th here.

I take it they didn't like it?

I thought it was an interesting portrayal.

I didn't hate his kids/grandkids...... disconnect was from his lack of being emotionally present in his family's life. They found validation and connections elsewhere....'in the world'.... and the divide just got wider over time.

Much like 'The Usual Suspects'....... I like the storyline but the vulgar/coarseness was a bit much.

You should watch it Sylvia. You might like it. There are many racist elements, and none of the characters are perfect or even good, but the character flaws are what makes the movie good. There is no moral lesson being beaten into the viewer, just a glimpse into the lives of people that seem real, and the viewer is left to draw his own conclusion.

I may watch it when my nerves are settled a bit more.

Sylvia despite the racism, Clint plays the main character with a hardness that only Clint can radiate and it is a excellent bit of acting!

I rented it and thought it told a good story. The screenplay was written in Minnesota by someone who has intimate knowledge of the Hmong community. Because Minnesota doesn't have a movie-friendly tax environment these days, the filming was done in Michigan and the story was set in Detroit rather than Saint Paul as intended.

When I was JW I conducted multiple Bible studies with Hmong in St. Paul, so I got to know them. I found the film contained an authentic representation of their culture.
