I am trying to lose weight.I wonder many times if the payoff is worth all the sacrifice. It is really hard for me to get motivated. There has to be some value placed on being overweight and happy, vs. normal weight and unhappy.Excuses, LOL

Musky, I mean no disrespect but I have never met anybody who was overweight and happy. I have also never met anybody who was too thin and happy. Maybe you are an exception but my experience hasnt born this out.

    Rob! He was just teasing!

Newborn, low carb is just plain not healthy. And most recent studies have found it makes for depression. There is really only one way to do this, and it takes a bit of thought and effort if you are inclined to gain. Calories in, calories out. Exercise is the key. Along with basic healthy eating. Avoid prepared foods, fast food should be left to once a month or so.

Well, I think there are people who are over the ideal BMI and are happy.I think it is harder for some than for others to maintain the ideal weight,so it causes more stress and unhappiness to try to attain that, than for others. Just my 2 cents though.

I've met quite a few on both ends of the spectrum. I think you might be the exception here. I know at least 5 guys I can think of that are overweight and quite happy, I also know at least 12 too skinny guys who are quite happy as well.

Maybe things are different here in the midwest. My experience does not bear this out--and believe me, I wish it did.

    How did you do it?

Since getting divorced, I've been eating my own cooking (lower fat, smaller portions). It's taken off 25 pounds so far, 10 more and I'm back to my bachelor weight. I do much less "stress eating" these days!

I don't even know when the last time I ate fast food was. I know it's not even that much...

    I need to lose a shedload ! I weigh 237lb and am 4ft 6inches tall, only kidding ! I really do weigh 237lb, but I am 5ft 10inches short.

I know it is not the beer that keeps the weight on coz I gave up beer for 4 hours once, and didn't lose a thing !
