In Total How Much $$$ Will You Spend On XMas Gifts?

Since leaving the JWs I was spending about $1000 each Christmas. I had to do a lot of work on my house this past year and there's a lot more that still needs to be done. I can't afford to spend that kind of money any more. To top it off, I'm not going to any of the Christmas dinners this year. They're all too crowded, and you can practically break a leg just trying to move from one room to the next. Last year someone brought a sick kid along, thus making about 20 other people sick, myself included. That flu knocked me flat on my ass for a full 2 weeks.

In other words, I'm not going anywhere and I'm not spending anything.

I was in NYC on Sunday and Monday. There were soooo many places closed or liquidating. People just don't have the money to spend!

We probably spend about $500. We have a small non-jw family with inexpensive wishes.

On gifts? Nothing...but I will spend 2, 3 or maybe even 4 hundred on xmas by the time it's done.

I don't exchange gifts still. Partly because the vast majority of my family are dubs, but partly because I refuse to get caught up in the hype of having to spend money during the year end frenzy called xmas.

I like the spirit of xmas, goodwill and peace among men kinda thing...I like the lights, the music, the kids enjoying the season. I like the parties. I make sure to bring a host/hostess gift to the host/hostess of the parties I attend, usually wine or their favorite booze (which I would do if it weren't xmas). I'll do something nice for certain people in my company...drinks or lunch or something, but I don't give gifts and I don't expect any.

I admit, I kinda like giving and getting XMas gifts. I'm like a little kid, probably because I never had Christmas.

$200 on food and grog for over the 3 days, ours childrens prezzies (from us) $500, Santa Sack fillers for all 3 kids $150, we have a $10 limmit for each niece/nephew (so $130..), we dont buy for adults and our xmas cards plus postage will cost about $100.....

So.... this year, xmas will cost us well over $1000 dollars.... but it will be soooo worth the expence!!!!

    Christmas Lights Merry Xmas Everybody!

(my hubby has already bought my prezzie- I got a new car! yippy!!!)

Between $1,000 to $1,500. We have alot of kids in the family and a few relatives with kids who are not able to buy this year (out of work), otherwise, we'd come out cheap.
