Think the GB Knows much about WT's Financial Holdings? Think Again

I missed this point the first time I read Ray Franz's book " Crisis of Conscience " 3 years ago. But it leaped off the page at me the second time around reading it this time. On page 28 in discussing how secretive the GB meetings are and only rarely will an outsider be let in to GB meetings to give a report- then were sent away out of the room so the GB could continue meeting in secret.

Franz in discussing financial issues states on pg. 28, " No specific information is ever given to Witnesses as a whole as to the Society's income, expenditures, assets or investments ( although they have received a brief expense report in the annual yearbook. )

In the footnote at the bottom of the page he continues, " Even on the governing body, few members know much about the NATURE of the FINANCIAL HOLDINGS of the society. "

So then, if the GB DOES NOT know of the " nature of the WT society's financial holdings " - who does at the top ? WT corporate attorneys, other powerful financial entities who might control the GB's OWN " financial awareness " ? Is the GB really in control as much as one believes ? I'll leave this open for discussion and hide as the bullets fly ! LOL! As always look forward to your takes . Peace out to all, Mr. Flipper

So if the GB wants to really be in charge they need to follow the advice of Dick in Henry VI and "kill all the lawyers" first?

Seriously, they're in charge of the rank and file. The lawyers are in charge of the corporation. I am sure the GB members, who as far as I know haven't worked or lived in the real world for decades, if ever, defer to the expertise of the worldly-wise attorneys.

I think the GB is about as much in control of the WTBTS as the Pope is of the Catholic Church.

It's always the money that controls any large institution and the WTBTS is not immune to this phenomena.

When the GB finds out it's losing it's revenue stream I'm sure they will take steps to try and reverse that loss by changing it's interpretation of the Bible.

The next move may be some kind of new understanding about tithing so that additional funds can be raised.

Ever since they compartmentalized the power in 2000, it seems more and more like the GB are like necessary figureheads for the real power behind the scenes. They maintain the religious front while someone else knows what's really going on.

handed over to others of the administration and over looked by the legal department as well..

Hey these guys aren't just writing articles for the literature.

Knowing that they are playing around with hundreds of millions of dollars probably adds I'm sure to their personal stature.

If the top WTS laywers aren't running things more fully than the GB............ I think they should all be fired for stupidity.

The take over by the Legal was inevitable.

.......if I am wrong, then I suppose it is whomever remains as 'stockholders'.......

Howard Hughes came under the control of a few people, ie, guards, lawyers, directors, etc- they kept him addicted to precription drugs and encouraged his isolation while they controlled his empire. I am certain the GB has lost control of the WT empire and the corporation has taken on a life of it's own- the worldly alien parasitic lawyers now control the whole body.

MAD SWEENEY - I'm sure you are correct- the GB defers to the corporate attorneys to handle all the $$$ issues at the top. As you say the GB members haven't held jobs, if ever , in the real world so long - they wouldn't know HOW to run the financial aspect of things.

LDRNOMO- I agree- follow the money trail and then we'll find out who REALLY is running the show. I wouldn't put it past the GB to start initiating tithing or some such money increasing venture similar to that.

SIRNOSE 586- I agree with you. I too think the GB members now appear as just figureheads and someone else is REALLY running the organization over them. The GB are just the " fall guys " if anything goes wrong.

THE ALMIGHTY HOMER- The GB may be involved in some manner financially - but since the WT society has become more corporate there is certainly more opportunity for the WT lawyers or corporate WT powers to run away with the money to the Caiman Islands or something. I just have a premonition in the next 5 years or so there might be a financial scandal in the top of the organization somehow. Don't know why I feel that- it's like a gut instinct.

YKNOT- Yeah, the WT attorneys SHOULD know somewhat more than the GB how to run the financial part of the WT empire. And it's just that even the GB is kept in the dark about major financial information. Somebody at the VERY top has a lot of power over millions of people.

MOSHE- I too feel like you that the GB has lost control of the WT empire now and that lots of parasite type WT attorneys have taken control - especially on the money angle

Note that Ray only said 'few members", not all members.

Whoever has been delegated that issue will be up to date on it, and I am sure he/they will talk about it with the others when they are up to their knees in doo doo.

I was told that the legal part and the GB are separate because if persecution comes along then the legal part is the one that will be shut down,and the GB will continue to dish out food.
