A basic morality is that love should be expressed outwardly to another out respect for the love which was received.
The supposed god of the bible was the epitome of pure evil for the things he did and for the things he didn't do.
Jehovah certainly was a creepy god out of all the other gods, people to this day think by worshiping him they are going to be rewarded by living in Paradise
in a state of immortality. As pleasant of a thought that might be, I don't think its going to happen. I don't even trust his publishing company.

I can't be forced to love someone just because that person is going to give me something great. There are two ways that people are lured to worship and "love" such a God: Free loot (paradise and life) and fear (Armageddon). Those are two extreme opposites.
What if I loved God just because but I didn't want to live forever. Would I have a choice?

And yes, you slapped that scripture silly. It is yet another scripture which is creepy and makes no sense (the whole idea of an "OMNIPOTENT" being NEEDING anything in the first place... isn't that a contradiction in terms...?)
