beksbks, Christianity created the word but Christianity in itself is pagan so now I dont think the word really exists. But I guess that is a good question because everything is pagan, therefore it shouldn't matter if anyone celebrates Christmas. I think that is what you are really asking.

Well, if paganisim was an issue, why were the first people Pagans?

Adam was a Pagan, so was Eve, pretty much everyone was till Abraham's fist son ( debatebale).

Essentially pagan is simply not christianity or judaism. So I say what's wrong with that? I'm an atheist, I'm listening to christmas music and trimming my tree right now. I love it. I don't give a pretty penny where it started or what it means to anyone else. My kids are now 22 and 24, and they have had christmas all thier lives. Even..........gasp...........Santa Claus. They never even noticed the transition from believing and leaving him cookies and knowing he was actually thier parents. I always focused on the concept that he was the symbol of a certain spirit of generosity and kindness. All good, all fun, lots of beautiful memories.

By the way, if anyone has Sirius radio, '40's on 4 has the most awesome holiday music.
