DOES ANYONE HAVE THE SCRIPTURE THAT PROVES CHRIST WAS BORN 12-25 AND THE ADMONITION TO CELEBRATE IT?

Colossians 2:16-23
16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. 18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions. 19 He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.
20 Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules: 21 "Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!"? 22 These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings. 23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.
In other words - Get A Life!

IGADSDEN: Jesus was not born that date, nobody would say so. you might as well ask where the scripture say the earth is a square.
Do you believe that everything one believes should be based soundly on the scripture? what happends if it is not so, and you go out and teach that to others?

As soon as you show me where in the bible it says that only the Watchtower has the truth and the Governing Body are of the Faithful and Discreet Class as a literal truth.
None of what I just typed is true and cannot be proven by the bible. I don't care if you don't like the idea of Christmas and don't want to celebrate it, good for you. But as for me and my family we celebrate it, have fun, and feel no guilt or pain about it and ain't a damn thing you can do about it. I see that Colossians 2 just went right over your head - didn't understand it did you?
P.S. You're being rude with the caps, it means you're shouting.

DOES ANYONE HAVE THE SCRIPTURE THAT PROVES ... THE ADMONITION TO CELEBRATE IT?
Stop the shouting, please!
I grant that the date December 25 is arbitrary, just as the entire Julian calendar is arbitrary and inaccurate (not to mention pagan and idolotrous). The date is not important, it is the rememberance that matters.
The Gospels of Matthew and Luke tell us to honor the coming of Christ:
The sight of the star filled them with delight, and going into the house they saw the child with his mother Mary, and falling to their knees they did him homage. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh. [Matthew 2: 10-11]
In the countryside close by there were shepherds out in the fields keeping guard over their sheep during the watches of the night. An angel of the Lord stood over them and the glory of the Lord shone round them. They were terrified, but the angel said, 'Do not be afraid. Look, I bring you news of great joy, a joy to be shared by the whole people. Today in the town of David a saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord' ... And the shepherds went back glorifying and praising Go for all they had heard and seen, just as they had been told. [Luke 2: 8-11, 20]
These quotations are from the New Jeusalem Bible.
A merry and holy Christmas to all, believers or not!

It's totally unimportant. When I was a witness, it seemed like a Big Deal. Now, I know it just isn't. If you want to honor the fact that Jesus was born into our world, what difference does it make as to the date? Mrs. Jones is right to quote the scripture. The real honest to gosh truth is that you are not to judge others in their choices. Jesus was big on the "judging others" thing. That is what is really important. JWs love to make you feel all these little things are worthy of God's wrath, when in fact, they are not.
Stay aboard, lgadsden, and much will be revealed to you if your heart is open to real Truth. You are sucking pablum right now, but as you learn a few things, you will be able to chew the more meaty things. Keep reading and posting. You are here for a reason.

Igadsden, Seasons greeting to you.
I think the origins of the seasons celebreations are well known, and even though it is not the dates when Jesus was born (even though according CT Russell, it may have been the date of his conception - lol) it is time for contemplation for those who have a christian faith. For others it is a great time for family to spend time together and exchange gifts.
Your question can applied to so many practices, even those kept by JW's, but they are not condemned.
Where is the biblical instruction for instance NOT to celebrate brithdays or christmas, yet take on other customs that have prechristian (pagan) origins?
Where is the Biblical instruction to shun family members because they don't agree that the old guys in Brooklyn who say they are gods people on earth today (prove that too!).
Where is the biblical instruction not to read the bible without the aid of WTS literature? Where is the bible prohibition not to read any bible literature noy published by the WTS?

It is a JW discussion forum. There are various viewpoints expressed here, some pro JW but mostly opinions from those hurt by the religion.
