What did you do? Just jump in on this board and start posting? Did you not read anything here first? I would say this site is not anti anything. It is an honest discussion board where people can come that can openly and honestly discuss their views, experiences, doubts, pain, and research without fear. You are not in the wrong place. You are in the right place.

I wouldn't call it an 'anti-jw site' at all. It was started by Simon (who was an active witness) to be a place to meet other witnesses and ask questions that couldn't readily be discussed/answered via lengthly written communication with Brooklyn. It provided - and continues to provide a safe place to 'compare notes' about all sorts of JW topics by people all over the world. We have a good number of active witnesses - including Ministerial Servants and Elders. Also there are some former Circuit Overseers.

Since we often have advance info on new or pending organizaational changes, I personally suspect that we also have some current bethelites on the board. Or might just be some very well-connected publishers.

Still, it's a good site for learning 'the rest of the story' as some of our more studious members are trememdous researchers and provide incredible insight to reasons for dictates and doctrinal changes within the WTS.

Please stick around. You may find that this is a surprisingly supportive site for whatever route you chose.

Well, now, c'mon. You - and everyone who knows ANYthing about the Bible - know very well that there is no such scripture or admonition to celebrate.

So there must be some other reason why people would join in the celebration. Can you think of what some of those reasons may be? As you consider your answer, remember that the holiday means different things to different people and people celebrate in many different ways.

    Welcome to JWN!

You, too. I mean that sincerely. It's a lovely day here in SoCal. Currently 61 degrees. Later today will have a quiet dinner of leg of lamb with a good friend of mine. Maybe catch a movie, too.

Please come back and read a little more. It really *is* a good place to explore and learn.

The celebration of Jesus' birth on December 25th is based on false information. This is true. That means that today's Christians are celebrating the first "coming" or "advent" at the wrong time.

Jehovah's Witnesses base the second advent on wrong information also. Jerusalem did not fall to the Babylonians in 607 BCE, so even if the ridiculous combining of Bible "rules" of some hidden code were the proper thing to do, Jesus would not have had his second advent in 1914 C.E. or any other previous date named by C.T. Russell (1874). That means that JW's are announcing the second "coming" or "advent" for the wrong time.

So the pot is calling the kettle black. Christianity is no more inaccurate than Jehovah's Witnesses are.
