Thank you WalkTall...It has been a while . He died in Feb 2003. He died thinking the reason no one was visiting him was because Jehovah was mad at him about something and was punishing him. That really hurt him. The sad part is I wonder if they realize what they did to him? I could tell when they apologised that they really felt their excuses were valid..

Some CO's are very nice, sincere. There is one currently in GA or least a year ago I saw, youngest and nicest I've ever known. He doesn't shake hands, he hugs. I was visiting and first time a brother hugged instead of handshake. He is also very laid back, and complete opposite of the stuck up, high nosed, attitude many witnesses portray.

The one in my immediate area, huge difference. Most his talks are praising those who do field service even if dying in a hospital bed, etc.

Talk about"Life On Hold"....... when does it begin to dawn on these circuit overseers that their lives are being trashed on an unrelenting treadmill leading to nowhere but an indigent old age? And what about their wives, who are doomed to spend their adult lives pretending to listen attentively to the same boring talks.... week after week?

I knew an elder/regular SuperPiosneer (also service overseer) that had a cruise or some other thing planned months in advance....CO visit announced.... super idiot cancelled his vacation...I think it cost him and his wife several hundred dollars in deposit money.

    stupid is as stupid does....

..I just heard recently that Bro. SuperPiosneer quit regular pioneering after 2 decades.... what...your telephone biz is more important than the field service?...

...or is it that your conscience finally got to you for looking at porn all those years and getting let off the hook?...oh well...you are still an elder...

I remember hating CO week.... all that ass kissing... The last CO (before I left)...I would take him and his wife out to lunch at Applebees....never a thank you note one.

Did you ever witness a "green handshake"?

Did you ever witness a "green handshake"?

I would always just stick the money in a "thank you" card and give it to him.

This is a little off topic since he wasn't a CO, but once many years ago when we were raising children we had a 'special' speaker from Bethel come and give a talk. We were asked to take him to dinner. He and his wife ordered drinks and both ordered the most expensive meal on the menu. I almost fell over. Never again!

Snoozy......that is terrible. I am so sorry that happened and that your husband thought that. That was one thing about JW's that I could never figure out.....how they could be so callous to the older ones.

Brrrrrrr!!!!! Good grief, Snoozy.... What horrible, insensitive people... No sign of true Christian love there...

Very sorry to hear about your husband's passing - and much sorrier still that you were not comforted and supported when you needed it most...

I remember canceling a vacation that was planned six months ahead of time in order not to miss the CO visit. At that time, I felt I had to set the example and was praised by the Elders for canceling the vacation to stay for CO visit. I also missed a few concert and baseball games and would take time off to “support” the CO in field service.

The last CO visit I blew off using the excuse “my dad is really sick” excuse. I remember missing the Elders meeting that Friday night while I was at a Dodger game having a cold beer!!!!
