I could have written your story. We share some very similar thinking and feelings .

Doesn't it feel great to just let go and love life even in the little things . I started out that way first with birthdays and now with holidays . Each year I decorate a little more for Christmas next year I think the full blown LED lights all over the house and a big Tree are in the plans ! The few outside winter decorations I put out this year got the Elders attention ,but they never returned to discuss the matter anymore . I just don't worry about them anymore .

Good for you, being true to yourself is so important and I hope one day your sibling is freed from Borg control and can do the same.

For us it was Christmas (tree and all) it felt like I was reclaiming my life. This Saturday is my dads birthday and I have cards at the ready the first he will ever of had from me and my family.

Nothing says freedom like celebrating a forbidden holiday.
