Is Richard Dawkins an ostentatious acrimonious supercilious pusillanimous calumnious censorious vituperative querulous embittered obsessive and bombastic bully?

I think he cares about what is true. He has no truck with those who think that in some sense everybody's opinions are right in their own way. His science books (Selfish Gene, Blind Watchmaker, Unweaving the Rainbow, Ancestors Tale etc) are as good as it gets. He admited in his debate with John Lennox that his interest was not in fact with biology but with discovering the answers to the big questions. Darwin removed the necessity of invoking the supernatural to explain the world and it has been his passion ever since to share its simplicity and power. He was perfectly suited to his role as professor for the public understanding of science.

When creationists distort and lie about the facts of science he reacts. When children have their enquiring minds polluted with religious superstition he thinks it is tantamount to child abuse - I happen to agree.

The RDF (Richard Dawkins Foundation) is primarily for public education. The forum has been open access and the quality of what is posted there is varied. Some of it is excellent some of it is drivel. Dawkins has taken the decision that in its present form it does not best fulfill the purpose of the website. New threads will have to be approved when it goes back online and there will be some other restrictions.

This forum is for ex-jws to discuss things that interest us, some of it would be very educational for outsiders or active jws some of it would be very misleading. If the purpose of the site was education this forum would not serve that purpose best in its current form. If the format suddenly changed lots of us would understandably be pi$$ed.

Most of those who are angry at Dawkins have already moved to another forum where they are free to post good bad and indifferent stuff without restriction. RDF will be a better place for the change in the long run.

Has anyone watched the interview he did with Wendy Wright?

I have really enjoyed his books. He displays less patience for some views than others would like, but at least he doesn't keep one guessing.

With his very polarized view, Dawkins adds a bit of balance to the big picture in our philosophical world.

I don't always agree with him, but I think he is very important, and greatly needed.

Dawkins is great ... my only complaint is that he doesn't go for the jugular when he often can when interviewing the insane ... oops, I mean zealous religious people.

50 years ago Jehovah's Witnesses were preaching that they were the spokespersons for God. 90% of what they taught has now been proved untrue.

50 years ago some Scientists were acting as if they were God. 90% of what they taught then has now been proved untrue.

I think history is just repeating itself.

With all respect, this is an ignorant statement. Science has no vested interest in staying with a theory that has been proven false. Unlike religion.

It just puzzles me how anybody can make anti-science statements like that

I'm trying to figure out what percentage of what you just posted is true, of course it just might be my opinion!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Dawkins has to contend with a enormous amount of human ignorance that gets pushed into societies through aggressive religious zealots.

Think about how many churches of various faiths are in your own community and now think about how many buildings

contain community social atheistic scientific teachings. ( this includes Kingdom Halls )

    The point is made clear.
