That's been my experience, too. It's all about holding the moral high ground and knowing that you do. It drives them crazy.

I know from the many people I saw come and go in North Carolina around Asheboro, Randleman, Seagrove, Lexington there is one heck of a boat load of people who have passed through the KH doors to disappear back out of it. I know there has got to be more than triple the one active ones out and doing well.

Don't forget the Watchtower has discovered the alchemy of turning volunteer labor and tax free donations into real estate - all the while maintaining a religious front organisation with a revolving door turnover rate that would make a spammer blush.

Tipping points are like Armageddon - tricky to predict but impossible to ignore. We'll know just after the fact when it happens.

    I completely agree.

But striking at the heart of the cult by fading comes with a personalized price tag.

The seppuku bought with an apostasy DF is sweet - although it may strengthen the will of the cultists, I value my self over their perpetual circling of the drains.

Or - they're gonna have to circule the wagons, withdraw into itself and plan on having a small core group of believers.

    I completely agree. What's better;

    • 7 million + Witnesses of whom 45% or more aren't "wholesouled" in their devotion to the "slave" OR
    • 1 milion hard-core (literally) die-hard Witnesses who only ask "how high"

Which of the two groups is easier to control? Ok, there would be less money coming in, but with smaller everything they won't need as much. Plus, how many of the 7 million + actually contributes these days?

A time of winnowing is coming. Perhaps this year's DC will be the start.

This is a great subject , many faders here and inactive also . How long do they keep publisher records for , if someone is inactive totally ? I havent done any FS for 6 months and hubby for 9 months . Is there any way to get them to get rid of the cards or are they stored in the secretaries files forever ? My son decided a while back not to come anymore and moved to a nearby town , and the COBOE wanted to make an announcement he was no longer a publisher . Is this normal practice ? Or a threat to keep others putting in their time slips and will it happen to us as we are 'inactive ' now ?

I too would like this whole area clarified, haven't we got an active elder/Secretary on here ? I think they are certainly breaking the law in the U.K if they are keeping data on us without our permission.

p.s Truthexplorer , I along with many others on here will not read a long post with no paragraphs, please use them.

I havent been a secretary since december 06 when i was deleted.

cards are kept forever....or until you die and the secretary bothers to clear them out.... i went through the old archive box and threw out ...and shredded...over 100 cards of probably 40 or 50 different people.... once a card goes inactive (6 months)...it usually gets moved into a different part of the file box or flagged... ...easier for the co to find.....then after about a year or two (the publisher cards are 2 sided.. ...covers 2 service years).... depending on when the publisher goes inactive.... whether or not a new card is filled out.... if not...then the old card goes into the archive.... if the 2nd service year was nearly complete.....or if the publisher is still attending...then likely a new card is started...and another 2 years in the current file box.

that is the way i did it...and the way most did it from what i could tell.... I was a bit picky...so my files were better organized... I didnt keep old cards cluttering up my current box...

I am sure that I no longer appear in any congregations radar.

I wish the secretaries in my area were as organized as you were Snakes...

In my area the congregation lines have changed several times since I left. They changed so much that I don't even know the congregations anymore. Imagine my surprise when I was informed of what congregation I was in. I guess my card had been floating around from congregation to congregation. Now the new PO/COBOE is looking to contact all the inactive ones.

I've appreciated all the thoughts on this thread and the couple others I started this week. Lots of good points and ideas.

    leo, you said:

    First off...was he baptized?

If he was, I guess it depends on how vocal your son was about not going anymore. If he made statements to friends that he didn't want part of the religion, then they could take that as a sign of disossociating himself. You don't always have to write a letter or make a definitive statement. They can get you by your 'actions'. If they determine that you're a threat then, by your actions, you have disassociated yourself and they'll make the announcement, which of course tells everyone in the congregation to treat you as a DFd person.

If he wasn't baptized, then your terminology sounds like the elder wanted to announce him as no longer a publisher. If a person wasn't baptized and they either left or were no longer considered 'good association' then they can announce that the unbatized person is no longer considered a publisher.

Of course that was back when I was in....it may have changed since then.

My husband processed the time reports; he said that they are only kept for the last 6-8 years, older ones are tossed; if the person has died, tossed; but if the person is inactive/df'd/da/d they were kept in the back of the box again as Snakes said, the CO would look these over. We know nothing is written in stone in the WTS so some congregations may have done it differently, and some COs may not have cared about any but active jws. But I remember one secretary threw out these cards not thinking that the CO might wonder why there wasn't even one. Another secretary took those cards out of the box when the CO came......
