Those passages in the Book of Psalms refer to taking vengeance upon the enemies of God's people back then. I've copied the psalm that so many have referenced in order to show the supposed tyrannical nature of the God of the Bible.

And today, JWs believe that Jehovah is going to take vengeance upon the enemies of God's people (all non-JWs). That's what this thread is talking about. David said many times how he couldn't wait to be delivered from the mockers, his enemies, basically anyone who looked at him sideways, and he couldn't wait until Jehovah destroyed them, their wives, and their children.

JWs are biblical fundamentalists, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that they echo these distasteful sentiments of the bible writers.

I invite any who are interested to read it through and see whether it encourages the kind of wholesale slaughter in which the WT seems to take such delight.

What it says is kill all enemies of Israel. Smash their children's heads against the rocks. The bible writers said this sort of sick crap all the time. JWs are just parroting. If we're going to criticize them for being bloodthirsty, and not the book where they got their ideas, I think that makes us hypocrites.

I honestly don't give a rats arse who it is refering to here. Smashing babies heads against a rock is just hideous.

When this was discussed on another thread, I mentioned how Black slaves used to kill White babies by inserting needles into their scalps.

Their reasoning? "You'll never grow up to enslave our people."

Repulsive? Yes. Gruesome? You bet.

However, the ones who did it didn't see it that way. They were only getting back at their oppressors. The capacity for doing such things is inherent in all of us.

The Bible writers were very realistic and non-hypocritical, imo.

Since I'm still technically "in" I like to use those occasions to correct the Dub's misunderstanding about what's supposed to happen (most dubs, even dub elders, don't have the doctrine down). I like to remind them that the paradise isn't after Armageddon. After the Big A, it is 1,000 years of cleanup and field service, which is doomed to the same sort of 'success' that today's ministry is accomplishing - namely, just about none, followed by another period of persecution and testing, then ANOTHER destruction of the wicked (this time including Satan), and THEN, IF they survive all that, MAYBE they will be able to live in a paradise.

THAT is the official doctrine, but few dubs ever view it that way.

May I correctly assume that you are perfectly fine with JWs looking forward to seeing the mass murder of the entire human race, then - snowbird? They are simply being "realistic".

Well, some of it does not strike me as very realistic.

Seriously, though - is this any surprise to want to SEE people dying? The WT illustrations have gruesomely shown this very thing for years - in living (dying?) color.

I had one this past fall stuck in my door showing witnesses walking out into a field of daisies with zombie-smiles on their faces while worldlies were being killed in lightning storms, earthquakes, and tornadoes in the background.

I've discussed what happened on Sept 11 2001 with some jws. I asked them: 'how did you feel when you saw 3,000 of your fellow US citizens die like that? Now imagine billions of people dying in a similar manner - buildings crumbling and so forth. Is that really what you want to see? Do you really understand what you are hoping and praying for?'

As pointed out above by the poster who nicely quoted Amos 5:18, do they really realize what they're asking for?
