Thankfully, never baptised so I don't have a problem with them.
They never even remember who I am when they accidentally stumble onto my doorstep- I guess that's the perk of living in a big city :)

Hi Mike,

As an unbaptized inactive publisher, you are in a very good place. You were technically never one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Under present WT guidelines the worse case scenario for you is that two elders could reccomend reading a statement to the congregation that you are no longer a publisher of the good news. If you haven't published for a while its unlikely they would do this. If you still associate w/other JWs and they feel you pose a spiritual danger they have the option of making that announcement. You cannot be shunned like a baptized JW but some in the congregation might give you the cold shoulder. All in all you are in a good place.

From the perspective of a non-witness you are quite correct. My comment was in reference to the group structure. For example, when one completes their military service they receive an honorable discharge. They are no longer associated with the military but there is no dishonor. The same is true of most groups. No so with the WTS which is more like the mafia in this respect. Once you join, you are a member forever or you are basically dead to the group. There is no way to leave while still alive and maintain honor as viewed by family members or friends from within the group.

You are either disfellowshiped, disassociated, spiritually weak or sick, a "lover of the world", or worse case scenario an apostate which in "Watchtowerdumb" is roughly equivalent to pond scum.

The emphasis being on "dumb".

Thanks for the clarification. From the perspective of the group dynamic, you are absolutely correct that from the group's perspective there is no honorable way to leave, clearly part of the cult "we versus them" mentality.

There might be one way to leave and get away with it. If the elders were to come knocking I plan to use this letter. This was posted by Mad Apostate, and it seems to be solid.

The biggest mistake I made was imagining that the WT is a SPIRITUAL organization. I finally admitted to myself after years of disappointments, receiving and observing abusive practices within the Borg and my own self-deception that it's anything BUT spiritual. It's more like an abusive self-serving plasticene social club that tries to present a spiritual facade to the world, and it's all for the benefit of the prominent ones in the Borg that do not have to work in the world and pay taxes, all at the expense of the lowly publisher. And the WT has always prided itself on how JW's do not harbor a "clergy class." BS, BS and more BS!

I choose not to go into information that might help the WTS bettter identify me. Lee, when do you (plural) intend to get the AJWRB active again? The information there is great but so much more needs to be done and could be done. Lives are being lost. Why not a car calvacade with lights on, some honking, signs included driving around the Bethel complex for the media? Sure, you're anonymous same as I am but Wayne Rogers isn't. What's the problem??

I'm an active JW. I don't believe everything they teach, I have some issues with several major doctrines. If they knew I would probably be disfellowshipped. The only reason I don't leave is because of my kids, it would really effect their lives and until I know they would be ok. Let's face it I have some good friends that I'm not ready to relinquish yet. I will just play the game.

I don't distribute literature when I go door to door I just encourage bible reading. I can't distribute their false teaching.
