Sounds very Calvinistic to me...already knowing the future outcome...how could there be any true chance.
Here's the JW answer to it all......

If you ever do manage to make a point, they will simply never mention it again.
It is up to you to bring it it again. I do. Every time they want to discuss religion with me, I want to discuss that tricky one with them.
You don't need a whole range of subjects to throw at them, you just need one question that they can't answer honestly and keep asking it like a broken record.
Cheers

I would say to the JW that answers with such ridiculous thoughts, "Couldn't Jesus use any person or group that was sincerely searching? Couldn't Jesus have gotten them to get it right the first time? Even if the person or group had to slowly get it right, couldn't Jesus have caused them to actually be faithful and discreet and remain silent on things that have not been clearly revealed yet?"

Jesus could see into the future and could tell that they were the only ones searching and would eventually come to the correct teachings on things.
mmm...ok

So all the incorrect stuff was allowed by Jesus for all those years, He never sent them any " light " in those years ?
Or did he give a flash here and there during the long decades since 1919 ?
if so, are they saying that Jesus is a flasher ?
How do they know ANY of the present stuff is correct ?
I think that last question is a good supplemental one, after asking about the 1919 choosing.

Palmtree, that answer is really irrelevant. The WT teaching is that they were selected in 1919 because of their track record to that point of teaching. The initial answers you would get are they were the only one's neutral (proven wrong by their own magazines), and that they were the only ones right about Trinity/hellfire/immortality of the soul- proven wrong by a review of other religions such as Christadelphians, SDA, House of Yahweh, etc (assuming the JWs are even correct on those doctrinal points).

The answer:
Jesus could see into the future and could tell that they were the only ones searching and would eventually come to the correct teachings on things.
This is simply yet another variation of the "God did it" catch-all answer. You cannot go wrong with that one.
It's sort of related to the 'Divine Command' theory, IMHO.

Yeah? Where in the bible does it say that Jesus can see into the future and chose them? Please show me the verse. Sorry, but this is all about them using the magic name of Jehovah (that they chose) in that religion. HE didn't give it to them, they gave it to themselves. They have the most infantile explanations. I guess that would make Jesus responsible for not preventing all the scandals in the religion. After all, if he can see into the future....
This reminds me of when I was very new in the religion and I was discussing with a 'sister' about gravitational pull and the planets and the universe. She was clueless. Her answer to me: "well, that just shows how GREAT Jehovah is......"

If you really want to believe something, you can come up with an explanation/rationalization for it. The WTS is not alone in this. Today, for example, there are people who can provide detailed explanations to support their positions that (1) the 1969 moon landing was a hoax; (2) 9/11/2001 was an inside job; (3) President Obama was born in Kenya; (4) dinosaurs and humans coexisted a few thousand years ago; etc...
I put JWs in the same categories as the crackpots mentioned above. They have chosen to believe a certain set of facts, and they are willing to twist reality as necessary to support those facts.
To me, it boils down to Ockham's razor. What is the simplest explanation? Applying this principle to JW doctrine (or any other fundamentalism for that matter) is typically fatal.

i agree with you except you could use better examples than obama was born in kenya-because he was.just ask his great aunt and most of the people there.
