Actually I wouldn't picket anything and I am a union member. Well, I take that back I would picket to help an individual who had been given a raw deal at work and had exhausted all other ways to resolve it. Nothing like getting the media involved.

    No.

Religious people are emboldened by perceived or imagined oppression.

The best thing to do is ignore them. When they knock on the door... do not answer the door.

Each time they knock on the door and no one is there, it kills a small part of their soul. Little by little they will wear away until they just give up out of despair.

I would not picket a KH. They may be misguided, but there are some good people inside. If anything of the JW's needs picketed it's the WTS HQ.

Would I picket a KH? No...

As others have said more eloquently than I, picketing would put you - in their minds - automatically into the "nutcase apostate who's sore about being DF'd and has been punished by "Jehovah" by not having a life of his own..."

Having said that, though... I wouldn't be above some subtle mischief... Going to a KH with a valid-looking background, getting 'involved' with the congregation, putting on a good show, then partaking of the emblems on Memorial night... [if that were possible for me, since I've been out for 25 years...]

But it would involve a GREAT deal of work. Someone else on-board recently stated that they were going back in; I've been tempted to slip back into a KH once in a while, just to check things out... BUT - there is an automatic "cult-speak" filter within most JW groups - I don't think I could pull it off...

But if I could - watch my dust!!! Zid

I'd NEVER to that! To me, it just looks bad for us ("apostates").

:Would You Picket A Kingdom Hall?

No. I wouldn't picket a Kingdom Hall for the same reason dubs don't buy used clothes and furniture at garage sales.

In the UK at least, it's illegal to disrupt a religious meeting.

Would You Picket A Kingdom Hall?

    No.

    3 reasons:

    1. Cults like JWs thrive off of the persecution complex. Harass or picket them and it reaffirms to them that they are being persecuted for righteousness' sake. In most cases, it only drives them deeper in, seeking protection within the safe confines of the group.

    2. Freedom of religion. Whether I like them or not matters not. They're granted the freedom and right to worship so even though I may not like them, they have as much as right as any other religious group to meet. I don't much care for any religion...why should I picket one but not another?

    3. Why waste my time? Yes, the WT/JWs has caused me some pain and grief during my life, but I've escaped now. They no longer control me. By being drawn to picket, protest or spend time actively trying to disrupt them, they still exert some power over how I spend my time influenced by them. Now that I am no longer influenced/controlled by them, I'd rather use my time to pursue things that I'm interested in and that make me happy.
