Has anyone heard this version and if so were is it from??
I think I read something similar while investigating gnosticism. It's been a while though. I may be incorrect about the source.

"God" vs "Satan"?
Jewish thinking said that when bad things happened to them, God was punishing ("rewarding") them for their disobedience, not Satan. Because of his people's disobedience, God used Nebuchadnezzar to punish his people. Satan was a tempter, but God meted out punishment.
Further, it is not valid to count the number of God's OT victims, since their stories are not always to be understood literally. Numbers were used symbolically, for purpose of emphasis and teaching lessons, but not with statistical literal accuracy.

IF we believe that God is all knowing and IF we believe that God is a superiour being with superiour power, emotion and intellect ( all big IF's I know), how can we believe that God is "evil" or that God gets "angry", "jealous", that God "hates" or that God "kills" directly?
Does that make sense to us as lowly humans?
