Well ! My Giants are in 1st place- however they have not only San Diego but Colorado breathing down their necks ! Makes me nerous , but I think the Giants will hold on to the end. They have better pitching I feel.
NANCY DREW- Nancy, those are some nice memories you have of the Dodger games and Yankees games with those famous players ! I'm glad your stepfather took you to the games. It's a great bonding experience for kids and their parents. I remember taking my 3 kids when they were younger too.
MAGWITCH- I bet you are looking forward to the Rockies-Giants game ! Your Rockies make me more nervous than the San Diego Padres for sure ! I still think we will handle your Rocky mountain boys pretty well though ! LOL ! Enjoy the game and have a great time !
CURIOUS BUTTERFLY- I too was very happy for the Boston Red Sox winning the series in 2004 after they had waited so long to do it again. My father in law is a big Boston Red Sox fan as he was raised in Boston as a young man.
NOWMAN- Yeah, I loved Harry Cary. He was a character. Baseball really misses him , the game misses having someone like him announcing again ! Someday the Chicago Cubs will win a world series again- just as soon as they get rid of the immortal " goat curse " still hanging over Wrigley field ! LOL !
DACHEECH- So I take it you are not a Boston or N.Y. Mets fan ? LOL ! Well, it doesn't look lke either of those teams will make the playoffs this year. Running out of time
Flipper - Do you want to put some money on the game Sunday????
flipper,
Farkel<------- River Cats fan!
I was a Yankees fan about a million years ago during the Maris/Mantle/Berra era.
Farkel
BASEBALL!!!
I grew up as an Atlanta Braves fan, but after so many dismal seasons, I kinda lost interest. Then they had their run of good seasons and I started watching again, but to be honest....it's hard to keep up with baseball. Too many games, season's too long. I don't watch it on TV unless I'm in a bar or the playoffs have started.
The best thing about baseball is going to a game live. I do get to make it to a couple of Braves games a year and several of the home town minor league team games just for the feel of the atmosphere and fun time. Win or lose it's a good time.
MAGWITCH- I better not bet any $$$ right now, kinda tight on money as the State of California owes me $ 1,800 for contractor labor back through July. They've decided not to pay any of their bills because they can't pass their 2011 budget. Not only that- you seem like a very sweet lady - I'd hate to take your money ! LOL ! ( Yep, I have that much confidence in my Gigantes.) Thanks for asking though ! Tell you what- if the Rockies beat the Giants on Sunday I'll start a thread on the Rockies & your honor ! If the Giants win - you start a thread on the Giants & my honor ? Deal ?
FARKEL- So you're a big River cats fan ? They just made the playoffs didn't they ? Did they get beat or win the playoffs ? I wasn't following it closely. Yes indeed the Yankees were definitely a dynasty with Maris/Mantle/Berra . They've pretty much been a dynasty since time began.
COOK MY SOCKS - Baseball for sure !
UNDERCOVER- Wow, as a Braves fan you certainly got spoiled all through the 1990's wth them being in the playoffs or World Series a lot. But you are right, baseball is a very long season compared to football so it's hard to catch the bulk of the games. I too enjoy going to live games. Really enjoyable
MAGWITCH- I should have taken you up on your offer of putting money $$$ on the Sunday Giants-Rockies game as my Giants won ! Hope it was an exciting game to watch ! For a moment there I thought Matt Cain would throw a no-hitter ! Hope you had a fun time
Hey Flipper, Your damn Giants probably put us out for the year. Cain is just TOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD! They actually deserve to go on - their pitching is so impressive.
The game was a lot of fun anyway. 90 degrees and not a cloud in the sky- the Rocky Mtns in the background. We had perfect seats except for the two Giant's fans sitting in front of us. Next year I will put some money on the game (I bet you will too)
Oh well, it is now all about the OK Sooners, CU Buffs, Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos!! Looking forward to Broncos beating the 49ers on the 31st
MAGWITCH- Yeah , I kind of felt sorry for the Rockies because they fought so hard to get back into the race by winning 10 or more in a row then faltered against Arizona and the Giants. Tulowiski is a MONSTER of a hitter I'll tell you for sure. I'd love havin that guy on our team anyday. Giants do have great pitching for sure - if their hitting gets more consistent they could make it to the NLCS against I believe Philadelphia - but to get past them, they'll have to HIT better.
I'm glad you had a nice day and the weather was good. Hope the Giants fans didn't harass you too much sitting in front of you ! LOL ! I'll have to bet you next year ! I don't think your Bronco's will have ANY trouble beating my hopeless 49ers at the end of the month. My niners really suck right now. It's going to take a small miracle for them to get back into the West race again. WE need to get rid of Alex Smith to start wth- and get a REAL quarterback. Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper
