Flipper, the names in the song indicate that it was written in the mid 60s.

DARTH- My father in law is a diehard Boston Red Sox fan even though he lives out here in Northern California ! He was raised in Boston so he has always stayed faithful to his roots .
ALL TIME JEFF- Well- The Pirates DO have some great young players coming up for sure. They might be a year or two away or one or two free agents away from making a run though. Man- I remember the old days when I was young and they won the 1979 World Series with Willie Stargell and they had the " We are Family " anthem going ! Seemed so long ago. I actually SAW Roberto Clemente play against the Dodgers in 1969 when I was 10 years old. I saw him throw out a runner at home plate from the warning track - ON THE FLY ! Incredible. That guy had a rocket for an arm.
ISAAC AUSTIN- Yeah, yeah. I agree. The Yankees have the greatest tradition, blah, blah. But in modern times it's been easier for them to mAINTAIN that tradition with one of the wealthiest owners in Baseball. They can virtually BUY a championship every year if they wanted to. To me it makes it more diluted than teams who bring up their own players from the minor leagues. Just my opinion.
ROCKETMAN- Yeah, I agree. It is a 162 game marathon. But us Giants fans haven't had ANYTHING to jump for joy about since 2003 and only just last year with 88 wins. You have the wonderful privilege of having a Phillies team who seems to be in the playoffs or Series every year lately ! LOL ! All I can say if your team keeps it up through the 162 games - and my Giants prove they have the right stuff as well - we shall meet you in October my friend. Get ready for our pitching staff. Especially Lincecum - he's a freak.
BILLZFAN23- Yeah, the Cardinals are perenially ALWAYS in the playoffs every year virtually ! Great team. Solid pitching, timely hitting and you have that monster power guy of yours who hits the stuffing out of the ball - Pujois. We shall see you in October as well most probably.
WOODY 22- Yeah, the Toronto Blue Jays are another team who is up and coming around again aren't they ? I haven't checked to see how they are doing this year- but they have definitely been in the hunt the last year or two.
FINGER- The Cubs. My friend JRK likes them too. You guys just keep getting your hearts broke. I feel sorry you came so close several years ago- then that damned fan interferred with Moises Alou on that pop up. Someone is going to have to exorcize that crazy goat curse you got going there at Wrigley field.
DONNY- Hope your A's and Giants fan keep up the good work !
XJW4EVER- Oh, cool. 1960's , I'll have to listen to the song. Thanks !
O.K. Hey Dodger fan - are you ready to rumble tonight at L.A. town !!?? Game 1 ! of 3 with my Giants ! Let the rivalry begin ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

I just spent 1/2 hour trying to figure out how to insert the RED SOX LOGO on here.....as you can see I gave up.
Born in MA and been a Bosox fan all my life.....nearly 70 years!
GO RED SOX!!!

Flipper, Pedro Alvarez, once he can hit lefties (Not a deal breaker since 30% of pitchers are lefties) at AAA, he comes up. What we need is some pitching. I guess hitters at 5-8. Damn. We got pieces, just no picture yet.
You saw Clemente and the greatest outfield arm of all time? That is something to hang your hat on sir!
Btw, if Stargell didn't play at Forbes field for the first 7 years of his career, he'd have had 600 homers.
LETS GO BUCS!!!

DISSED- Thanks for the Danny Kaye Link.
SUNSPOT- Since my father in law is a big Boston Red Sox fan- I am sympathetic to their fortunes as well ! I definitely favor the Red sox over the hated Yankees for sure ! LOL !
ALL TIME JEFF- Yeah, maybe they can get Alvarez out of the minors and give them some sock with the bat. Or get a couple good arms. I was really impressed with Clementes arm and Stargell's bat for sure ! So he would hav hit 600 homers if he hadn't been in Forbes field ? wow. I always loved how he pinwheeled his bat around just before the pitcher threw it. It was like he was winding it or cranking his bat up ! Awesome.
BACKROOMBILLY- O.K. I admit. Your Dodgers got my Giants in the 1st game Friday night. I'll tip my hat to your big hittters . Congratulations. You knocked the hell out of our crappy 5th starting pitcher- a no-name guy we picked up in the offseason. And also you should congratulate our ( not thinking ) manager Bochy for leaving him in after already giving up 3 runs in 2 innings just long enough for your guy to hit the grand slam homer. Like that was smart ? Not. As it was the final score was 10 - 8 Dodgers. If it wasn't for the grand slam- we may have come back and won the damned game. Let's see what happens today with Lincecum. I predicted we'd win 2 out of 3 down in Beantown- so we need today and tomorrow's game
