They have taken a stand against holding hands during prayers.

When I was in the process of leaving I read a really good book called "Apostles of Denial" by Edmund Gruss. His basic theme is that the WTBS defines itself by what it is not (no hell, no trinity, no political positions etc). This (he points out) is a terrible way to define your theology. If the rest of Chrisitianity did not exist, JW's would have no way to tell you what they believe.

Jeff, I agree. The religion is one of do nots, not do. They're negative in every way.

IF other Christians believe something Jehovah's Witnesses have found a way to be the OPPOSITE.

That is what they stand for: We are sooooo different because we have the Truth and they don't.

Even a very simple thing like saying "Jesus Christ" is too much for a JW to handle.

They have to flip it inside out and call him Christ Jesus!

They are black if you are white and white if you are black. Up is down.

It calls to mind BIG BROTHER in Orwell's 1984: War is Peace, Ignorance is Strength, Freedom is Slavery.

They embrace ideology of opposites. This defines them, marginalizes them from society at large and keeps them quivering before

the mighty altar of their Governing Body.

Terry, you're right. And they don't really like glorifying "Christ Jesus". They are stuck on "Jehovah".

Thats awesome Terry - and so true!

If you say Jesus Christ to most witnesses, they look at you like you were swearing at them, like as if you said "Jesus F--- Christ!" like some people do.......

JWs of 2010 are NOTHING like the JWs of the 60s. The old JWs could EXPLAIN their version of Bible prophecy, WT. rules and chronology easily. Now, they don't have reasoning. They just are told what to believe and that's it!

Haven't been around them since 1979, but from what I read here, that really is true.

Of course, the WT. rules and chronology easily explained in the 60s didn't work out, so those oldsters of that day couldn't explain it now either.

And, nothing new to replace it has come along except that a generation actually lasts forever.

The religion is based upon ridiculous Bible explanations. It's all just so dumb.
