Well, everything does happen for a reason, even if we don't like what that reason is.

The reason Earthquakes happen is becvause of teutonic plate shifting and the reason people die when an earthquake hits is because they were in the effected Zone, its just that simple and not any more complicated than that.

Of course one can ask WHY people live over or close to fault, like those people that live in LA and San Fran and that can be part of a reason why people get killed by earth quakes.

Fact is, the world is the way it is because that is the way it is ( in terms of natural events).

One CAN and SHOULD ask WHY people are starving or thirsty, or dying or preventable illneses in the world we live in.

As Christians or anyone of Faith you have to accept that God is in control.

Outlaw love the Jack Daniels fool. what a waste of good Jack.

It's sad to think at one time anytime a tragedy happened in the world you had this little glowing feeling inside, this smug feeling knowing this was a sign that the end is near. I am embassrased for feeling like that at one time. Today when I hear that "Well everything happenes for a reason" I respond with "Yep your right, God is a rotten Bastard"

"The strange thing is this statement is usually made to preach faith in gawd. It does the opposite, doesn't it?"

Yes, and they don't really seem to say it when something bad happens. Almost every time I hear someone say that, the sentence could just as easily be, "Everything good that happens to me happens for a reason." It's an ego thing imo.

It's one of my pet peeves, too. I LOATHE the statement and the concept it is based upon. Is there some sort of universal current with eddies that pull in one direction or another? Possibly but unprovable. Is there a detailed overreaching ultimate plan for every single event? Ridiculous. Ludicrous. Asinine.

I'm a follower of LOA (Law Of Attraction) and I completely and totally believe that we draw things into our lives based on the energy we create around us. i.e., If you are a miserable bitch you are only going to get misery, if you are a good, positive person, you will get it in return, ect. It sounds simplistic but I've seen it work to many times for it to not have a basis in fact. So I guess you could say I believe in "everything happens for a reason".
