As a Christian myself, I think "modern Christianity" should and will perish, because it man centered, not God centered. God centered Christianity will never perish. awildflower

If you truly got the essence of Jesus as you say, then why on earth would you bare a title that he himself never did?

    Acts 11:26

and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And for an entire year they met with the church and taught considerable numbers; and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

I think I was saying that Jesus never titled himself "Christian" since "the Christ" was an added on title given to him by his disciples that means "annointed". It happened after he died, at least as a human.

I guess we all know what "annointed" means, it's a ritual to designate a leader of some sort, in this case a spiritual one, the Messiah. Maybe a literal one, to some, but definitely spiritual first.

It would have just been weird (I was going to say "counterintuitive" but I hate to get that "inuition" kerfluffle started up again!) for Christ to define himself that way.

For Christ to define himself as Christian would mean he was following himself...well, that's just a tad awkward, not to mention a little mentally off.

I guess that depends on what you believe about the bible.

    Mat 16:15

He *said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" 16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 And Jesus said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
