ok, the next generation for my wife and I:
Once active nieces, nephews ranging in age from 20 to 47=16
Still active nieces, nephews=2, both disfellowshipped, now reinstated.
One 38 year old son once active, now out.
Our family total=15 out, 2 in.

SKYWHO- So just you and your husband left, but his brother knows it'a a lie? So not many people left in your family yet . Interesting.
MENTALLYFREE31- Excellent research and information by you ! Thanks for sharing ! Good job. Wow. So in a 20 year period 62 % of the people left in the congregation you were in. And they were between 17 - 35 ? Awesome ! If the young people are leaving this organization in droves- in another 20 years or so- it won't have much future. Are you sure that among that 62 % - there weren't some who just moved to other congregations in different areas ? Just curious. But very interesting research.
ILOVEBIRTHDAYS- Congratulations on being out of the organization for 12 years my friend ! Good for you. I too have developed fantastic relationships with friends and my wonderful in-laws who love me unconditionally ! When I got in my recent car accident a month ago- it was my non-witness brother in law and father and mother in law who called me on the phone to see how I was doing. I had to call my JW relatives and let them know - but after initially explaining things to them- I still received no phone calls. I called THEM- not vice versa.
I'm not sure why some geographical areas might have a higher retention rate of keeping JW's in the cult- as opposed to other areas where they seem to leave in boatloads - I'm thinking it might be the higher volume of religions in an area or something where people tend to be more into attending Chrches in one area as compared to another area. Just a theory.
WHITE DOVE- So you and your uncle are the only ones to leave the JW's so far ? Wow. Have you been able to make a network of non-JW friends in the area you are living at now , I hope ?? Hang in there

6 siblings and in-laws faded or df'd
7 cousins non- attenders
about 50 in my local cong. in my own age group(22-35). df'd or faded that have left over the last 10 years

Between my family and my JW ex-wife's family: more than 3 dozen people. Maybe 4 dozen, and not counting really young kids.
All in the 1978 to 1984 time frame after the 1975 and the Ray Franz episode.
NOT A CAPTIVE- Wow. Thanks for the info on your family . Very interesting ! It sounds like most all of your adult children left the witnesses and some pursued college educations. Fantastic. Don't berate yourself too much on " exposing your kids to the destructive cult " - I did the same thing to my 3 children - we did what we did at the time because we thought we were doing the right thing- with the knowledge we had at that time. Time to move on and forgive ourselves and work at showing lots of authentic human unconditional love to our familes and children for sure. I wish your children all the best.
JAMIEBOWERS- Wow, it sounds like most all of your cousins are out of the cult. That is a good thing.
ELDER-SCHMELDER- That is really great your dad told you that most all of the 33 and under crowd have exited the witnesses ! Maybe they did their non-witness personal study - which helped hasten their exit ! LOL !
LESABRE- That is really great - seems like all of your family is out ! Good deal.
CROWNBOY- So it seems that the younger generation in your family is exiting the witnesses as well. Good. I think many of our older parents are still attending meetings, still active. It sounds like many younger ones are leaving.
NONI 74 - So it seems that about 65 to 70 % of your younger ( 18-35 ) cousins are still in the witnesses. At least some have left. In time they might get worn out like your pioneer relative. Many JW's get worn out waiting for a paradise which will never come. The WT society will NEVER deliver on THAT promise . Not capable of producing it.

JAGUARBASS- I'm glad you got out at a semi-early age friend. It's been a big load off your shoulders I'm sure. Wish I had left in my early 30's instead of age 44 - 6 years ago. But hey, I'm out and I live every day to it's fullest !

TWINKLE TOES- Very interesting statistics you share ! Pretty positive stats I'd say ! Sounds like 13 of your relatives have faded or left the witnesses and 50 in your congregation aged 22-35 left or got DFed in the last 10 years ?? Wow ! Awesome ! More young minds being freed to go live their lives with clarity and without cult mind control ! Awesome.
JWOODS- So you had between 36 to 48 people in your family leave the witnesses from 1978 - 1984 ?? That is incredible. I'm envious. Wish most of my family would leave the cult. Good job JWoods ! OLIN MOYLES GHOST- 2 of 3 in your family ? Great ! 66 % . That's the average percentage they say that most 18 to 35 yr.olds will leave from the JW cult. So good for you , maybe the other one will come in time too
Thought you would find this interesting. I looked back over the thread and found these statistics out :
Of your responses 16 of you replied that 60% to 100% of 18-35 yr.olds in your family or people you knew have exited the witnesses.
And- of your responses 9 of you replied that 0 % to 50% ( lesser amount ) in your family or people you knew have exited the witnesses.
So- I thought you'd find that interesting so far. Keep the responses coming ! It would be good to find out how many young people are exiting ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper
