If we are in the last days, I think the WTB&TS, Inc. has a very heavy burden of being a blind guide and shipwrecking the faith of so many. If we are in the last days, those of us still in need to jump off the train cuz its headed down the wrong track!

The WTS. said that in 1930's , 1940's , 1950's , 1960's , 1970's , 1980's , 1990's , etc........

Why ? fear mongering apocalyptic cults sell literature that way and get people to sell and buy their literature.

Developing a psychosis of fear and provocation works wonderfully for these end time cults .

Just think the WTS created a billion dollars of wealth selling nothing but contrived bullshit.

That kind of money in the hands of certain men would make them feel even god like.

I think that many Witnesses, especially long timers, get thinking about all of the years that have passed since the bid 'A' was supposed to be here, they start to panick and say thoses words to try to convince themselve and try to make themselves feel better. The same goes for "things are so bad.....it CAN"T go on for much longer!"

If I had a nickle for each time I've heard either of those statements in my life, I could buy the entire WatchTower organization.

The thing is as far as JWs are concerned, there have been quite a few earthquakes -and bad ones. Then the volcano is spewing. There is a huge oil spill in the Gulf. The debt crisis is a long way from over and in fact round 2 is starting with Greece. There are two wars in the Middle East - Iran is simmering nicely. That nutjob in North Korea can do anything at anytime. We have had two failed terrorist attempts in ths USA in under 5 months - tah twe know about - as far as JWs see it - we are in an Armageddon Perfect Storm scenario

The news has always been bad. That's what the news media does: report bad news.

This is NOT anything new. CT Russell thought things were SO BAD in his day that there were concerns that the system wouldn't last until his predicted Armageddon date of 1914.

WWI was believed to be the end of the world.

So was WWII.

The Cold War was constantly hyped as the leadup to Armageddon.

Then it was 9/11 and terrorism.

Then it was hurricanes.

Now it is the economy and earthquakes (despite evidence that earthquakes have not increased in frequency or magnitude).

The Borg leaders have to figure every system has an end at some point, whether it's with a bang or a whimper, and they're bent on remaining in existence until the current one does so, and then they'll claim credit for being right all along.
