A long time ago, I remember visiting some of my husband's relatives in Louisiana and they ate something called "sweetbread". Is that the same thing as chitlins?

LT...no, I'm not. It was in a big rectangular pan. The name sounded good, but when I was told what it was made from, I "really wasn't all that hungry...thanks anyway."

The only time it hurts me is when I don't get it.

JO -- I've never heard anyone refer to chitlins as 'sweetbread'. Since this was Louisiana (which is, essentially, a separate country), this 'sweetbread' could have contained possum, alligator, nutria rat or armadilla.)
