I think you left in too much local color. Most folks outside the Centennial State have no idea who Alferd Packer was, or the reason for his notoriety.
It is on topic though: Alferd won his appeal, escaped the noose, and eventually was released to die a free man.

Zid, without a doubt Moby Dick is one of the most atricious books to ever be misconstrued as "literature." And you're damned right I base that on my own opinion regarding the book, who elses would you suggest I use?

He declared my enjoyment of "Moby Dick" to be: "I'm calling your bluff on that one...." based EXCLUSIVELY on HIS reaction to the book: "I suffered through that book one time, hoping it would get better. It never did...."
Which I believe is an excellent example of "projection and displacement", in psychological terms... In other words, he decided that MY reality COULD NOT BE ANY DIFFERENT THAN HIS: "I suffered through that book one time, hoping it would get better. It never did...."
That's a FLAMING psychological malfunction... [Not to mention, arrogantly egocentric...] So, yeah, maybe he SHOULD research psychology... Perhaps he could benefit from insights gained into HIS OWN behavior patterns...

Dear, perhaps you need to take yourself less seriously. While what I stated was true regarding my disappointment and lack of engagement with Moby Dick, you failed to grasp the essence of my statement, namely, an overtly exaggerted statement in an attempt to be humourous. Don't feel bad though, you're in good company. Many people do not "get" me. I make no apologies for expressing my opinion on books, of which I have many, but frankly, you must have been born yesterday to take everything I say at face value.

Snow, before taking the plunge on a novel, maybe you should consider getting some short stories published. It might be a good way to get yourself known and build up your confidence for a bigger project.
