And if you understood it, wouldn't you be explaining it in words that the inexperienced could understand?

You meant me, Blondie? If so, what is so difficult to understand about the idea that the sun derives its energy from radioactive processes, and that therefore it will last many millions more years - but NOT forever?

2 Peter 3:10 But when the Day of God's Judgment does come, it will be unannounced, like a thief. The sky will collapse with a thunderous bang, everything disintegrating in a huge conflagration, earth and all its works exposed to the scrutiny of Judgment.

11-13 Since everything here today might well be gone tomorrow, do you see how essential it is to live a holy life? Daily expect the Day of God, eager for its arrival. The galaxies will burn up and the elements melt down that day—but we'll hardly notice. We'll be looking the other way, ready for the promised new heavens and the promised new earth, all landscaped with righteousness. MSG

Just wanted The Message Bible's version.

    Carry on.

What about the context of 2 Peter 3:10. Vs. 5-7 compares the future day of judgment to that of the flood. What was destroyed according to verse 7? Wasn't it the ungoldy men, not the physical earth?

God created the very laws of physics that tell us that nothing in this universe is eternal.

    Why would he change them?

Now, CAN God change them? of course, but why would he?

If we are indeed spirit beings, as God is, then we don't need Earth per say, do we?

If of course, the only potential humans have is flesh and bones and the need for an "earth" then all life is truly finite and if that is hw it is then itis how God wanted it to be.

Either way, it is what it is and will be what it will be.

"I have a question, has human understanding of physics changed over the years?"

Yes, as you state, human understanding have change over the years. But in my opinion the real meaning of the law still in place. In 1687 Newton’s law of universal gravity define gravity as differently of what Einstein thought in 1915.Although Newton's theory has been superseded, most modern non-relativistic gravitational calculations are still made using Newton's theory because it is a much simpler theory to work with than general relativity, and gives sufficiently accurate results for most applications.

"Has anything thought to be irrevocable been adjusted?"

Yes, always, and that is part of the learning process. The earth was the center of the universe, the earth was flat, the milky way was the entire universe.

    Take care,

No, Jwoods I did not mean you. I meant this somewhat impolite response by NVL to someone else.

I can understand many argue that scientifically it is impossible for the earth to remain forever (sun dies). What is wrong with the argument that God could refuel the sun?

If you understood it, you wouldn't be asking the question.

I just feel if you think you have superior knowledge, then you should share it without insulting others. BTW I'm in no need of education in basic physics having started my education in high school in college physics.

The earth lasting forever might mean his people. Even if the sun were to last forever we still will need a new planet. Eventually we will overpopulate the earth if we don't die. My mom always told me god might take away our ability to have kids at that point. I think that would be horrible. We were made in gods image with the ability to creat and bring forth new life. So the only answer for me is...

If the whole world is working together and is perfect. They wont have money issues that get in the way of building a huge space ark. Big enough to grow food on. We cant do this now because of money issues. And bone mass loss. We cant survive in space now. But when our spirit is the thing keeping us alive and not the actuall food we eat this is a non issue. So guess aliens are real. Its us in the future! Im looking forward to vacationing on the resort on mars!
