I quite cold turkey too. It was best for me. Don't have any regrets about not doing a slow fade.

cold turkey, and a letter of DA was all I needed.
It threw the whole congregation for a spin,
One moment a JW with no sign of a problem, suddenly whooosh gone.
A totally great decision

DA was the route for me. I'll take a few real friends over conditional, controlled friends, any day. I also respect those who must choose a different route for financial, family and emotional reasons.

OUTLAW
Cantleave..
Did you enjoy your vacation?..LOL!!..
When I left the WBT$,I just walked away..Period.....Expecting everyone to do that,is not reasonable..
Some need to make preperations in advance,so they don`t destroy their lifes..
Some are young and still live with JW Parents..
The best we can do is support those, trying to get out of the WBT$..
Pushing them to do more,is`nt Fair or Wise ..
Have a beer for me..
It`s still early morning here..

Outlaw - pour coffee into the beer - how's that for an early morning compromise?

White Dove
My family was 3,000 miles away so it was easy to just stop going. They didn't know the people in our congregation and had no contact with them.
After being abandoned to get spiritual food for myself, much like an orphan in the streets eating out of garbage cans, I gave up and quit going suddenly.
No one came after me until it was time for memorial, about 6 months later.
I was a very conspicuous meeting attender, needing to have the meetings interpreted, so it was very telling that no one cared to chase me down.
I was free to go to any churches I wanted, and to later get involved in witchcraft and join a coven.
I was free to wear my jewelry and a short robe in public and not worry about getting df'd.
I tested the waters slowly as life handed them to me.
Never was busted for anything, ever.
That was a blessing, really.

nod at the 'just stop it already' method
anything else is ceding personal power and responsibility to these goons....

Hi Cantleave (you've left?)
I agree about the lack of hounding..Are you in the U K? My experience was that the elders are too lazy, too scared maybe, to want to really sit down and discuss the issues.
I still go whenever my wife wants to go on a Sunday, for moral support only of course...I quickly became part of the furniture and am treated as a "husband" , not as a brother...
I get the impression from American posters that things may be different over there with elders looking for apostasy..Over here I don't think they want to know, unless you were to make a song and dance about it..

MY EYES!
Edited to add:
Bluesbrother - in my experience, apostasy is a huge concern in the U.S.
