Generation teaching. What is it about witnesses that they don't see this for what it is?

I cannot for the life of me understand why Jehovah's Witnesses don't see right through the B.S. regarding their overlapping generation being equal to one generation. Also, I am a bit perplexed at how little certain Jehovah's Witnesses know their own doctrine.

    Take my wife, for instance:

She sees no reason to be all concerned about the new light on the generation teaching.

She know little to anything about the 1914 doctrine. When I asked her to explain it to me, all she could say was "Jesus began reigning invisibly then." When I pressed her to tell me what the significance of 1919 is, she knew nothing.

I mean, really. What is the whole point of doctrine and making sure it is sound?

I asked her this morning what is the whole point in doctrine if she isn't at all concerned about 1914? If doctrine isn't important, what makes her religion any better than anyone else's?

So let me get this straight:

    • A core teaching that gives the WTS their sole authority is unimportant.
    • Yet, she is willing to blindly follow them believing that they have the truth.
    • Even if it means denying a blood transfusion to a child because 'mother' says that it goes against 'Jehovah's' principles.

I'm sorry, but I would have a hard time accepting this from any religious leader, including mine own. They can certainly discern error in other religions while pretending that error does not exist in their own.

    Gary..

Most JW`s don`t know what they believe,or care..

The number 1 priority in any JW`s Life,is to obey the WBT$..

    Period..

    If the WBT$ changes it`s mind about something..No Problem..Obey the WBT$..

I agree this new overlap teaching takes the cake as far as pure bullshit goes. If I hadn't left before, this would have been enough to push me out. Why more can't see it when something this egregious happens is baffling. So many have invested SO much that they just can't let go.

Why can't they see it = Mind Control

Only one belief matters, as Outlaw says: Follow the WTBTS, because God appointed them.

    It's just that simple.

Outlaw nailed it perfectly. No one questions the FDS...ever. You can question God and get away with it before you could the WTBTS. No matter what is said they will always say: "isnt the new light exciting"..then promptly forget.

Liberal use of "loaded language" words and phrases such as "the truth" ingrains in the JW mind the concept that WHATEVER IS SAID by the Borg IS THE TRUTH.

Repeated warnings AGAINST STUDYING DEEPLY AND ANALYZING Borg doctrine as it relates to what the Bible really says ingrains in the JW mind the belief that TO EVEN CONSIDER QUESTIONING whether what is said is true or false is a REBELLION AGAINST GOD IN IMITATION OF SATAN.

To reinforce this, the Borganization uses the threat of disfellowshipping and shunning for any who explore too deeply, and teaches "thought-stopping" techniques so help members SHUT OUT THE VALID QUESTIONING done by others.

The Borganization is elitist, claiming a special status for itself, its mission, and especially its leaders the Governing Body as GOD'S SOLE CHANNEL OF COMMUNICATION with the earth. The rank and file JW is convinced that he or she HAS NO ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND the Bible, God's will, or even to comprehend proper versus improper thoughts and behavior WITHOUT DIRECTION FROM "GOD'S CHANNEL."

The Borganization has ingrained in the rank and file JW the view that since the Borg is God's ONLY ORGANIZATION on earth, that ANY CONTRARY THOUGHTS, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHICH MIGHT LEAD TO INVESTIGATING A POSSIBLE FALSE DOCTRINE of the Borg ARE EVIL and from "SATAN'S WORLD."

The Borganization ingrains in the JWs the belief that "THE WORLD" is WICKED and IN DIRECT OPPOSITION TO JEHOVAH AND HIS ORGANIZATION and so THEY WILL PERMIT NO belief, thought, feeling, or action in opposition to the Borganization OUT OF INGRAINED FEAR of becoming "worldly" and alienated from Jehovah. There IS NO FULFILLING LIFE POSSIBLE outside of the Borganization and therefore JWs FEAR REBELLING AGAINST IT and refuse to even accept the premise that any questioning could possibly be justified.

And this is just a SMALL SAMPLE of the type of mind control these people are under.

I remember when I was a kid, my father 'explaining' a doctrinal flip flop as proof the WT was directed by holy spirit. It sounded more like proof that it wasn't directed by holy spirit to me. It is probably one of the conversations that helped me choose not to get baptised, but it wasn't enough to completely free me.

Expect more fallout from this poorly thought out adjustment. Although JW's are trained, conditioned to respond humbly and obediently to teaching changes, the spin usually is somewhat logical. This new generation belief is sort of unwieldy, confusing and illogical.

Circuit overseers are giving congregational service talks in support of the new "understanding" and assembly program time is devoted to it. This can only mean one thing. Many are finding the new teaching a tough swallow. I wonder how many "what the heck?" letters Brooklyn/Patterson has received on this new overlapping generation teaching from seasoned JW's.

I learned a long time ago that when a Watchtower article is written is frequently reactive to some trend, problem or crisis the GB sees the necessity of addressing. I believe the new generation teaching has brought some insomnia to the GB and the Writing Department.

I am still amazed despite my being a JW that most don't care what the current doctrine is, nor do they care to try to explain/understand it.

My wife just "knows" that only JW's teach "basic Bible truths" concerning the cross, morality, holidays, homosexuality, stuff like that.

My JW mother just "knows" that Jehovah answered her prayers way back when she was trying to learn "the truth."

Neither one of them is the least bit interested in details involving the doctrine's explanation. My mother accepted the excuse from 1975 when the end didn't come- they didn't account for the possibly years between Adam's creation and Eve's creation. She reads and reads and reads WT literature and the NWT Bible, but not for deeper understanding of the doctrines. It's a shame, she could understand them if she wanted to, she could see the flaws.

My wife just goes to the meetings and barely studies enough to comment at most meetings.

The new generation teaching- I don't know how much I will discuss it with family, but I do feel that it needs to be pointed out.

The WTS. doesn't bring up 1914 and 1919 very often because they know they are weakly devised falsities they dreamed up

to bring relevance and viability to their literature. There was not to be any calculable date to Jesus returning kingdom,

the WTS knows that but they adopted it for the reason I mentioned.

BS that was marketed to the public that only religious charlatans would endeavor.
