Generation teaching. What is it about witnesses that they don't see this for what it is?

I remember back in 95, when the new teaching came, I thought by myself: No surprise, the org had to do something, because the old teaching just runs out of time, ...

still, I swallowed the new explanation, I also recall, how I tried to twist my brain in order to accept this contemporary wicked generation thing....

funny, i must have had a "lucidum intervallum", a short apostate moment during my theocratic sleeping time

When they announced that the sealing of the anointed did not occur in 1935, I knew something was up. Asked others what they thought of it and they simply said that we know the light will get brighter as we get closer to the end so many changes are expected. I said that this was a prelude to a change in the generation teaching. They said there was not a need to change it. I said they need to buy themselves more time for older ones to die off and for newer ones to only know the new schpill. A couple of my "friends" stopped talking to me at that point because I was causing them to doubt.

Anyway, there it is, for many these changes are indications that they are getting closer to the end. Many will not question the GB as they are appointed by Jehovah God. They think their JW world is the only place for happiness and everyone else is just pretending. Some are excited by the change. They get a kick out of being able to say they understand it and explaining it to others as if they have an extra dose of holy spirit.

When the towers fell, they rejoiced because they thought the end was here but yet 10 years later...nothing. They are grasping at straws and the ones that see this are afraid to leave for various reasons but primarily fear.

You don't need to be able to explain why things are a certain way when YOU JUST KNOW it is THE TRUTH.

"A Paduan" recently started a thread on the Dunning-Kruger Effect. In short, research shows that ignorant people have a dangerously hyperinflated sense of confidence and are too ignorant and overconfident to realize they're wrong.
