My dad didn't think the book was scary enough for us preschoolers so he made sure to add that when the great tribulation came any day now, men with guns might come to our house and take us all away to prison and beat and torture us to try and make us stop worshipping Jehovah. He told us that even if they put a gun to us kid's heads and told my dad he had to stop worshipping Jehovah or they would kill us, he would have to let them shoot us because his worship to Jehovah came first, even if you had to watch your own kids die!

Aahhh.... don't the childhood memories just warm your heart with a fuzzy glow!

I will never forget those pictures on the purple page. I now realize everything I believed was based on that book.

The creative days, the water canopy, how everyone not serving Jehovah will die.

Read the 25th chapter for a very vivid discription of the death and destruction at the GT.

No wonder I was always looking over my shoulder.

When 9/11 happened I flashed back to those pictures.

Miss.Fit I had similar experiences. I grew up on that book. 9/11 and the Towers falling down felt eerily similar to how I felt when looking as a kid as the pictures in that book of buildings toppling.

LOL, what a great old book! Watchtower should re-print it for those faithful dubs who haven't read it. Creative days 7,000 years long (pg.18) Adam created 6,000 years ago (pg. 22) the Flood caused by the 'water canopy' collapsing onto the earth (pg. 42) - all very scientific, I'm sure...

Lovely book for children showing people scared out of their minds as they die at Armageddon! Weren't Adam and Jesus depicted without beards? Strange that.

Other "Christian" religions scare people with their burn in a fiery hell forever belief, if you are not good.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach EVERYONE is going to DIE, and it is your responsibility to preach to everyone you come across, otherwise you will be held blood guilty by God. lol

With Jehovah's Witnesses, you HAVE to get baptized, then you become, (it used to be, an immediate God ordained, Minister, yes, even the 10 year old's were considered ordained) worthy to be considered a righteous person, with a reward of NEVER DYING, but living on this earth forever, in a beautiful paradise, with all your resurrected loved ones.

You must push their beliefs and books, at least 1 (one) hour each month and at least showing up at your local Kingdom Hall, every other week.

If you do this, you are not really considered "good enough" but you "might" pass. lol

WatchTower , makes it seem like it is your personal responsibility, to put YOUR LIFE on hold, all of your desires, and push those books.

I too was raised with this book.

Reading this book, or worse yet as a toddler having this book read to you, puts a possible crack in our youthful spirit for life.

Some children born in first world country's, are born with the belief, anything wonderful can happen to them.

They can dream a dream, and take the steps in life, to see those dreams, come true.

JW children get fear put into them, worse than other "Christian" religions.

Other children interact at neighborhood Birthday parties, Little League, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, bottle drives, after school activities.

JW children are forbidden all of that association, all of that interaction, all of the give and take in developing a good, rounded personality.

WatchTower children are taught that those children, doing those "worldly activities" are doing "bad things" and will die at God's hand.

JW children are scared and confused.

WatchTower literature and it's religion is abusive, to all innocent, non-thinking people, of any age.

I grew up with this book. The images are absolutly inappropriate for children. Shame on this religion for exposing me and other children to these images... fast forward to 9/11

Immediately after 9/11 my mind went directly to the images of the Paradise book and wondered if the terrorists used this book as a play book.

I consider forcing children to see violent pictures as a form of child abuse, a sort of rape of the mind, since you can never 'unknow' it. The images stay with you, as the posters above have proved.

This is the first JW book I can remember. My dad "studied" it with me when I was 5 or 6 years old. It scared the crap out of me. For years I had nightmares about our neighbors attacking my family and beating the hell out of my dad.
