In addition to making a report to the branch office, the elders may be required by law to report even uncorroborated or unsubstantiated allegations to the authorities. If so, the elders receive proper legal direction to ensure that they comply with the law. Additionally, the victim or anyone else who has knowledge of the allegation may wish to report the matter to the authorities, and it is his or her absolute right to do so.
Well here I make it clear as possible that any sane half intelligent person can plainly understand.
If you'll notice that it says " MAY BE REQUIRED BY LAW " why and just only maybe ?, the legal department of the WTS. knows that if a incident of
pedophilia had occurred and was identified and the WTS. didn't report the situation as they are supose to, that they could be held in contempt of
the law and be held libel for not reporting it. Pretty self concerning and narcissistic would you say ?
Its just a proposition of legality nothing else. They are hoping that the matter will just be contained within. In other words they're instructing or
discouraging the elders to not directly connect the organization with this particular crime because it would hurt the JWS's image in front
of the public. Does that sound like that has the best interests toward the general public at large ( innocent children ) ?
The JWS work hard and vigilantly to distinguish their organization from all the others religious faiths ( Evil Christendom)
Thats why there have been so many circumstances where JW elders didn't report theses crimes to the proper authorities.
All they did was perhaps make a report to the Branch Office and disfellowship the individual, leaving the individual out and free to the general public
to re-commit more egregious crimes. Dumb and irresponsible don't you think ?
Sometime AIW just doing what the bible says it simply just not enough.
Thankfully after a few court cases this has put a fire cracker under the GB asses and to bring
the matter a little more attention, but they still inserted the "MAY HAVE TO" which wherever a congregation is out in the
world puts the onus on to the elders to carefully think about putting a phone call to the authorities.
Protection of children MAYBE and only when its insisted by law.
Protection of the WTS image ( God's own divine image ) always and absolutely.
