Well Ive been watching this subject and can comment.
The speaker phone guy absolutely SMACKs of authenticity to me.
I mean the elders know its about molestation and heres 2 cops?

I must admit when I saw Yardick post about it taking place during a congragation meeting I was taken aback..it made me pause.
I still dont understand this one.
Normally, meetings of elders and confession/punishment sessions are conducted in secret. Away from observation.
Then again. dont forget, their dealing with COPS. Not APOSTATES.Not SINNERS. Maybe they wanted it public to show the cops, "hey, were friendly, nothing to hide here"

Dont forget, the ORG has set the meeting time, not the cops.
Why would the org decide to hold the meet DURINg a cong meeting??

Of course darryl jumped in boots and all, these two people are COPS, not CHRISTIANS. It was obvious, to me, darryl jumped in because danni was momentarily paralized and didnt know what to say.

Across the board I see no reason to think Dannis a troll .
She seems genuine to me.

By the way. I come from a line of elder relatives and associates. They swear when provoked. Dont worry about that. A friend of mine was telling me about an elder chewing out a guy in the car park at the hall yesterday, lots of expletives.

Dannii. Sorry about all this, these dubs (ex dubs) are very paranoid people and look for conspiracy in their soup.

I believe you have been neutral all along. Skepticism doesn't mean taking sides or debunking, it just means witholding judgement until there is sufficient evidence to base a conclusion (especially in the strict pyrrhonistic sense). Right now there is not enough information for a skeptical person (such as myself) to make a confident judgement.

Thanks for clarifying some points. Because of this thread, I read the one Danni posted about the meeting, altho I'll admit I didn't read all of it as it got rather boring listening to the same ol stupid comments etc.

One of the things that was brought up in the other thread, was that not all JWs and JW elders are guilty etc and so shouldn't be attacked. I agree that most JWs are nice people. Most elders probably are as well. In fact, I've known quite a few who were the salt of the earth. Point is, tho, that as elders, they support and tell others to follow WT policy. The policies are what need to be attacked, yes, but these elders ARE responsible, at least in part, for the damage that occurs as a result of the R&F following their 'advice'. And we all know what store the society sets by the responsibility everyone and his brother seems to have, for not stumbling others, for not being bloodguilty, and on and on and on and on. They need to accept responsibility for what happens to children who are molested when these same elders tell parents not to contact authorities. These elders NEED to be educated and, at the very least, Danni and her partner took a stand in that meeting that may cause SOMEONE to think on this issue.

As a result of reading Danni's thread, and especially her comments to others about what they've done, I am seriously considering calling one of the elders who was involved in handling the abuse of my child and calling him on the 'advice' he gave me. He was angry and told me that I had NO RIGHT to go to the authorities, that I was going against scriptural principles. Not that I think it will do any good, of course, but who knows? If more of us spoke out, maybe there would be a shift in policy eventually.
