My lovely JW sister just said this to her oldest son.

She's "not allowed the same freedom"?

I'd be tempted to ask her if she understands Stockholm Syndrome or whether she ever resents her voluntary captivity.

Holy christ Heather. Are you sure your sister isn't Flipper's ex-wife?

Well seeing as your nephew now can express the "freedom" that your lovely, Christ-like sister doesn't have, I hope he posts what she wrote to him on Facebook along with an explanation as to what led to her frothing-at-the-mouth rant.

    Frigging nutbar.

Well, she will go back to the KH and tell everyone they have disowned your nephew, over his worldly ways. This will give them a big "chip" in the game and lots of sympathy. Maybe, it even get them on an assembly symposium, "stay loyal to jehoobahs org, even if it means stabbing your kids in the back" program. And JWs wonder why doors don't open up to them anymore.

Wow! That's a whole lot of venom! For what it's worth, give him our support and best wishes for healing.

They do make you choose between being accepted and "loved" or living in fear.

So sorry he had to go through that. But glad he has you

My dad uses the term 'the walking dead' too. Or 'the living dead'. I hate it.

I am convinced that they are pushing to get rank and file to shun any undecideds, and faders. I was warned by a BIL that they would start shunning me soon; my crime?

I associate with my disfellowshiped son. Of course, he is clean now for ten years, married and with a son. His crime? He has never been reinstated, he does not want to lie about what he believes.

I am losing the ability to talk with a civil tongue with them; I have known them my whole life, love them, but they are increasingly following the WT down the cult road.

The angry reply from your sister is a bummer; so good that your nephew has you to talk to.

I often wonder what the parents of a DF'd or DA'd child, would do if they were to get that phone call that all parents dread, that something fatal has happened to their child. There must be JW's and former JW's who've had this happen. Too bad your sister couldn't be put into contact with one of them and have them wake her up as to the reality of what she is doing. I would love to tell her about how my young Son was diagnosed with Cancer a few months after he was DF'd. I can't imagine how devistated we would have been if we'd been delivered this news after having turned on him as she has done to her Son.

    Such a waste....so unnecessary !

"the truth shall set you free" - Her admission that she doesn't have that "freedom" shows how she doesn't have the truth Jesus was talking about. Emotional blackmail was NOT a tool Jesus used to influence people. He would call a hypocrite a hypocrite and stand up for himself, but not not the kind of manipulation we see from the WTS. They cry "Lord, Lord" but he does not know them.
