  I'm not sure if this was a bethel myth or not, but a rumor that regularly circled bethel was the "housekeeper whores" of brooklyn. Supposedly an entire floor of single guys, couples, and house keepers were practicing group sex and wife swapping. Almost the entire floor were eventually disfellowshipped and asked to leave bethel.

  Like I said, not sure if that was just a legend, or if it actually happened. But EVERYONE knew about that story. It was usually talked about when talking about other bethel "secrets", like suicides and deaths of various bethelites.

  Not sure about that one brotherdan but there are some illegal hookups from time to time. Usually those involved are reproved and kicked out, sometimes df'd. The first week I entered bethel service someone was disfellowshipped for stealing. I was like, "ooooook". Bethel thieves they're called.

  ** A little while back they ended mandatory Saturday work for the bethelites. Now you only have to show up if you have a Saturday duty.

  Wow darth frosty, that brought back memories. Remember having to read all the life stories of each of the GB members? And I couldn't hang a sports star poster on my wall growing up because it was "idolatry".

  Reading through the outline really shows the control that they establish over you from day 1!

  On the working on saturday's I was reading a danny hazard post and he said how knorr made the brothers work on saturdays cause he hated bethelites.

  One rule of bethel that got me and some of my friends in trouble was the ability for ANYBODY to tell on you and have you up before your overseer or worse. One cat had gotten a twins pizza (and the society was notorius on having you leave a proper tip.) The delivery guy left the pizza and my friend came down to get it. He had exact change and the doorwatchmen was like aren't you gon leave a tip? My friends response 'yeah he should've been here to get his money!LOL

  Well he got called to his overseers office and like a lil kid the Overseer walked him over to twins pizza and made him PAY FOR THE PIZZA AGAIN and tip?!?

  Bro dan when were you there and which facility?

  I was at brooklyn 94-96. Worked in the factory and garage.

  I was at Patterson from 2000-2002. Even my family couldn't believe that I lasted 2 years. Like I said earlier, I didn't follow rules too well. But I let myself get caught up in the Bethel culture when I was there. I would've defended it to the death, while at the same time I never felt worthy or good enough to be there.

  Oh, and 1 other thing. Seeing any woman in a bikini or scantily clothed was viewed as "softcore porn". That was the reason for them not delivering the sports illustrated swimsuit edition to you. I remember being so isolated at Patterson for months and then going to the grocery store on the "outside" and being shocked at the scantily clothed women on the covers of magazines. It was awesome...
