Funny you brought that up LWT. When I was at bethel swing dancing was "in". There were some guys in brooklyn that would go to swing dance clubs all the time. They were discovered by GQ and were invited to be in a photoshoot regarding swing dance culture in NYC. They did it and as soon as GQ came out, they were IMMEDIATELY asked to leave by bethel. The sad thing was that they had asked their overseer if it would be ok and he said yes. They left...he didn't.

I did plenty of swing dancing in clubs in Manhattan. I wasn't one of the folks posing for GQ, though. Those guys were asking for trouble. I remember that incident.
Hey brotherdan. I was at Patterson also around that period. But it seems I left just before you did. Perhaps we have crossed paths.
I also went swing dancing a few times. But I wasn't skilled enough to be photographed. LOL Probably a good thing.

Where did you work? I was in building services. I cleaned the maint. buildng for a while and then was assigned to clean the powerhouse, water softening, and audio/video after that.
We DEFINITELY had to have crossed paths! I'll send you a PM.

Also, anybody notice how many hits this thread has already? Over 1,000, in a short period of time, 19 hrs. Is mama watching?
Bethel is a special entity unto its on. Its like all you hear about the gossiping and back biting and snooping elders in the congo's, is amplified 10x's when your at bethel. Every time I was called to the carpet up there I not only got talked to about the latest offense, but they ALWAYS brought up the past stuff.
Also you hope to find some of your old bethel mates on here. Cris and brother dan hope you two do know each other.
darth -- Check your PM's, please.
I will forever be grateful for my oldest brother's experiences at Brooklyn Bethel in 1978 - 1979. He met Ray Franz; he then returned home and never went to another meeting again. He introduced Franz's ideas to his four younger siblings. Many thanks for that Bethel experience - it saved 5 siblings.
It has been 32 years and my brother still talks frequently about the prison like life.
