BD - can you read that last post of yours? You say you are worried about people who believe some of the bible and not other parts - and then you end it with acknowledging that you think He has let some error creep in - so people would search hard and honestly to find him. But if that is true, then we would know which parts of the bible were error and which were not... and then wouldn't we know to take some parts and leave other parts?

Just so you know I don't personally think He let error creep in. I think its just there... but we can determine which parts are in error and which are not by listening and testing them against Christ. (Some parts that we think are error, mind you, just might be that we don't have the whole story or we misunderstand the context or whatever, too.)

edited to add: the post before the last one, since you guys posted again already.

See undercover, you prove my point right there. You try and insult and make fun of anyone with a different opinion than yourself. Hence, the whole reason for this post. You don't just post your ideas, you bring it around to insults. I deduce that it is because atheists are sad and angry people.

    You want my ideas? Really?

People who believe in God, any god, Jehovah, Yahweh, Allah, what the fuck ever, are delusional. They put faith in something that there is no evidence that exists. They make their life decisions based on what they think that this invisible entity, who has never made himself known, would want.

And then they turn to some holy book as the end all, be all to any argument. Someone doesn't agree with you? Fine you trot out the Book and quote lines from it. Like that actually means something. It don't mean shit to someone who doesn't accept it, so why keep quoting it like is has power to convert?

As for atheists being sad and angry. You don't know me...you don't know anything about me. You cannot determine my state of happiness. It's impossible. Making blanket statements that atheists are sad and angry is ignorant, and foolish... Don't make me beam Captain Picard back here...

I was speaking of error in translation. I believe the original autographs of the Bible are inerrant.

Wow...what a "sad" and "angry" post, undercover. I quote from the Bible because I believe in it. If you don't, just let it go in one ear and out the other. We don't have to bring it down to insults and saying that all that believe in God are delusional. I've never said that everyone that does not believe in God are retarded. Spiritually retarded maybe...but I digress.

BD - Gotcha. Also, I wanted to add, because I know this must be a hard thread for you - that I absolutely agree that we can disagree on many matters regarding the bible and/or doctrines without being divided by pride or anger. I could not deny Christ, nor speak bad of Him. I love and follow him, as I believe you do as well.

UC - I make my decisions based on the love, forgiveness and mercy that Christ taught. I haven't always done so and of course I can mess up without realizing that I'm not following those principles - though I will correct myself as soon as I realize or someone points it out. But these (love, forgiveness, mercy) are not principles that I think anyone can find fault in, and they are Truth to me.

I find people who wear their delusional faith on their sleeve sad. Everything they live for is in hopes that some invisible person sees them and approves of them.

I'm not angry. I can be pointed...blunt. And I can be an asshole. But angry, no...just exasperated. That's why I call on the good Captain. He pulls it off so much better than I...

It's a difficult thread, but I was ready for it. I'm tired of being made to feel "stupid" or "dilusional" because of my faith in Christ. But that seems to be the attempt of some of the atheists on this board. But I was prepared. I just hope that a new Christian on the board may be able to read the beginning pages of this thread and feel like their views and ideas won't be trampled on by everyone.

I understand undercover. I have no idea how I come across on the board. But I'm just a regular guy that has fun at the bar with friends, and is up for anything. This isn't the only thing I talk about in RL. In fact I talk about it less than I probably should.

The original autographs of the Bible do not exist. There is no evidence supporting or refuting their inspiration. None can be. As you said, it is a matter of faith, but it is more than that, it is a matter of BLIND faith.

A question for you, Dan. Do you believe the Bible is God's ONLY Word to mankind?

If you're asking if I believe in personal or new revelation, then no I don't. Do I think God inspired the Qu'ran, no I don't. I think He can speak to us through His direction from the Holy Spirit. But I think that everything that He needed to reveal about Himself was already revealed in the Bible. And yes I know it was 66 books.
