Well for me it was very real..I would get horrible anxiety just thinking of going to meetings (dry heaves) coughing hard all the way to the meeting and even during. I think it was a bit embarrassing to say the least. This was while we still attempting to attend...after quite a few times of this, my husband said we can't keep doing this it was making him nervous the kids nervous and I couldn't control it without medicating myself which I wasn't going to do..so we decided to start listening in on the phone line, then that got less and less

m sure it would be an easy thing to fake...and I'm also sure your wife would start telling you to stay home after being embarrassed a few times.

I sympathize with you, truthseeker. I too had HORRIBLE social anxiety at the meetings. I felt like people were looking at me and judging me the entire time. I know alot of that was self imposed, but that didn't lessen the effects.
