Bluegill, this friend sounds ripe for the picking LOL.

I suggest showing them what JW's actually predicted about 1914 in Russell's time (Armageddon, Millennium to begin). Then with this false prediction and their other false teachings, show that they could not have "qualified" as Faithful Slave of Wise Virgins etc. in 1914-1919, so they can't be "God's Organization", then or now. Then they'll be ready to hear about all the other sins of the Society. Then they'll exit.

That JWfacts site we gave you a link to is a fantastic place to start.

Let's put the real blame where it belongs. As guilty as the Watchtower is, where would they be without the Bible to back up their bullshit?

From the September 2010 Watchtower, kool-aid edition:

This refers to Christ’s coming as Judge to separate people of “all the nations” into two categories: “the sheep,” those who will have actively supported his spiritual brothers (anointed Christians on earth) and “the goats,” those “who do not obey the good news about our Lord Jesus.” (2 Thess. 1:7, 8) The sheep, described as “righteous ones,” will receive “everlasting life” on earth, but the goats “will depart into everlasting cutting-off,” or destruction. --WT Sep 15, 2010, p29

Anyone who is not actively supporting the F&DS is destroyed.....

Not to defend the bible, but this doesn't excuse the WT$... not by a long shot.

I suggest that you should try and get hardcopy of one of the article quoted here, get him to make his claim again, preferably adamantly, then get him to read the article to you.

If you can manipulate him into describing a religion that makes such a claim as being a cult before you show him the article, all the better.

I remember reading somewhere that , to paraphrase, "there is nothing to indicate that non baptized ones will survive the end", with stress on the baptized part, .....so...somewhere , someplace theres something to that effect....

THE BIBLE DOES NOT BACK UP THEIR BULLSHIT!

Ok, but the bible DOES infinitely talk about graphic destruction of ppl. If JWs borrow from these scriptures to imply prophecy then I would say it "backs up" their bull.........like the "blood reaching up to the horses girdle", like "possilbly you will be concealed in the day of Jeh anger", ect ect...

Good podcast on how they believe only they survive and are the true religion, but dont come right out and say it.

Note that in the Pew Forum 16% of the JWs agreed that other religions can lead to eternal life.

This a high percentage disagreeing with a major doctrine.

    Why?

Were they being dishonest to make their church seem less like a cult?

Were they being dishonest with themselves?

This teaching has been repeated over and over. Were they asleep in the pews every time? Did they not mark their Watchtowers?

The speaker of that talk, Ciro Aulino, was one of the lovely fellows responsible for the WT's involvement with the UN.

Talk about hypocrisy... not to mention irony...
